6 WWE Superstars who were no shows on RAW - Sportskeeda

It has been widely reported that last night's episode of WWE's Monday Night RAW went through a number of changes before it made it to air.

PWInsider noted that Vince McMahon ripped up the script for RAW several times, which led to many of the matches that were announced ahead of time being scrapped.

Sheamus vs Bobby Lashley, The Miz vs John Morrison, and Drew McIntyre vs Damian Priest were all scrapped from the show and later replaced. While the matches that aired in their place included many of the same stars, there were several notable absentees.

John Morrison instead took on Omos in a slight change, while Drew McIntyre, Sheamus, and Damian Priest collided over the United States Championship. WWE Champion Bobby Lashley and MVP also teamed up to take on RK-Bro for the RAW Tag Team Championships. All Championships were retained as part of last night's episode of the show.

The following article looks at just six notable names who were missing from last night's episode of WWE RAW.

#6. Former WWE Women's Champion Alexa Bliss

Alexa Bliss has recently been part of the feud between Eva Marie and Doudrop, but the former Women's Champion was notably absent last night on RAW.

Bliss noted ahead of the show that she was in Oklahoma City but failed to make an appearance on the show.

It was recently reported by WrestlingNews that Bliss was set to be part of the show in the first draft of the script, but as previously noted, this was ripped up and re-written by Vince McMahon.

This means that Alexa Bliss was backstage last night on RAW, but the angle that the former Champion and her sidekick Lilly were set to be part of was left on the cutting room floor.

Since Doudrop and Eva Marie have entered a feud against each other following SummerSlam, it's unclear where Bliss fitted into this week's episode of the show. Given Bliss' recent momentum, it's a shock that she was one of the stars who was omitted.

Bliss may be looking to start a new feud heading into WWE's Extreme Rules pay-per-view, something which could easily be saved for next week's RAW.

DC FanDome schedule 2021: The Batman, Gotham Knights, Aquaman 2 streams revealed - Polygon

DC Fandome, DC Entertainment’s streaming fan event, returns on Oct. 16. In the announced schedule, Warner Bros. Pictures promises a new trailer for The Batman, along with glimpses of other 2022 releases like Black Adam, The Flash, and Aquaman 2 (aka Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom). Along with the DC movies, the lineup promises new looks at upcoming comics, games, and animated projects.

Scheduled to make a second bow at DC Fandome are Gotham Knights, the Bat Family ensemble action game coming in 2022 from WB Games Montréal, and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, by Rocksteady Studios, makers of the highly acclaimed Batman: Arkham series of games. Suicide Squad was first revealed in 2020, when the curtain likewise raised on Gotham Knights. But Gotham Knights, originally expected this year, got delayed into 2022 back in March. Both games are coming for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X (with Gotham Knights also launching on PS4 and Xbox One).

Here’s what else is lined up for the event:

  • DC Publishing has a celebration of Wonder Woman on deck, spotlighting three upcoming books. The Batman-Fortnite comics crossover event will also get an update. In the weeks leading up to DC FanDome, DC Universe Infinite will make more than 300 comics and graphic novels free to read for anyone who registers an account with the subscription service. The free titles include Injustice: Gods Among Us Vol. 1, as well as the complete storyline of Flashpoint.

The first FanDome, held in August 2020, was held as a way for DC to share news and previews of big name films and events during the global COVID-19 pandemic. That event’s success means it’s coming back, apparently as an annual online expo, with all the bells, whistles, and announcements that entails. A news release from DC boasted of 22 million viewers, globally, with another 150 million views of trailer content coming from last year’s gala.

DC FanDome 2021 will be free to everyone, and can be followed at the event’s official website as well as through DC Comics’ official channels on Twitch, YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook.

Yeonwoo’s agency dismisses rumours of the actress dating Lee Min-ho - NME.com

MLD Entertainment, the agency representing actress and former Momoland member Yeonwoo, has denied reports that the K-pop idol is dating actor Lee Min-ho.

Responding to the previous reports released by South Korean publication Dispatch, the company dismissed the issue in an official statement released today (August 31). “Upon checking with Yeonwoo herself, they have a close senior-junior relationship,” the agency stated, as translated by Soompi.

MLD Entertainment, which released its deninal one day after Lee’s agency, also explained that it took some time to release an official statement due to Yeonwoo’s busy schedule. The actress is currently filming for KBS 2TV upcoming TV series Dali And Cocky Prince.

Meanwhile, Lee Min-ho’s agency MYM Entertainment had earlier denied the relationship in a comment to Sports Chosun. A company spokesperson said that “It is not true that they are in a relationship”, adding that the pair “are just acquaintances”, as translated by Soompi.

MYM Entertainment added that the photos released by Dispatch had involved other friends of the two. “It wasn’t just the two of them, and there were other friends present at the time. They are not photos of a date,” the management further clarified.

In other related entertainment news, Red Velvet vocalist Joy and South Korean R&B singer Crush were recently confirmed to be in a relationship. The duo reportedly kept in touch after they collaborated on Crush’s May 2020 single ‘Mayday’, subsequently embarking on a romantic relationship.

Spider-Man: No Way Home lifts from a key Marvel comic about the devil - News Nation USA

The trailer for the much-awaited Spider-Man: No Way Home set the Internet aflame in theories and reference-hunting. But nothing loomed quite so large over the clip as One More Day, a 2007 comics crossover that changed the webslinger’s life forever.

One More Day played out the most tragic possible consequence of Peter Parker’s secret identity being revealed to the world and what Peter did to try and avoid it. Initial reaction to the series was fairly negative, but while it might be a story many fans wished hadn’t happened, they couldn’t say that it wasn’t told well, or didn’t have compelling details. And it looks like some of those details will showed up Spider-Man’s next appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

At the very end of 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Homein the film’s second post-credit sequence – a familiar face pops onto the screen. It’s J. Jonah Jameson sharing Mysterio’s last ditch effort to ruin Spider-Man’s life — revealing his true identity. The film ends on a banger of a shot, with Spidey’s lenses wide as he realizes what an absolute mess his life is about to become.

Image: Mark Millar, Steve McNiven/Marvel Comics

“One More Day,” a four-issue arc, was the ultimate result of a similar unmasking issue. During the original Civil War event, superheroes were asked to register their secret identities with the government. Peter resisted the call at first, but when Tony Stark convinced him it was the right thing to do he came clean in a press conference. The most cited reason for superheroes to keep their identities secret is to protect their loved ones from villainous reprisal, and that’s exactly what happened to Peter next.

Kingpin sent an assassin after Peter, and Aunt May was shot in the process. “One More Day” opens with Peter lamenting his choices and horrified at their effects: Aunt May lies in a hospital, and doctors have told Peter that it’s only a matter of time before she passes. The first issue ends with an ominous internal monologue, “Nothing’s going to stop me from saving her. Nothing.” Which is how Peter ends up seeking out Doctor Strange, just as Peter seems to do in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

But in the comics, Strange tries to make Peter realize that there is nothing they can do: Sometimes people have to die. Strange steps into the hole of mentor and friend here, allowing Peter to grieve and rage, but never budging on his stance, and Peter nearly comes to terms with May’s death. But he doesn’t quite, and that’s where things get weird.

After meeting several passersby who represent the untaken paths in Peter’s life, Peter runs into Mephisto. Yes, Mephisto, the Satan of Marvel Comics. Mephisto says he’ll save May’s life, and all he wants in return is Peter and Mary Jane’s marriage. The couple have one day — hence the “One More Day” — to decide. Why is Satan so particularly interested in making Spider-Man and Spider-Man’s wife forget that they ever got together? He says he’ll enjoy listening to the piece of their soul that remembers their love screaming for all eternity.

Spider-Man: No Way Home seems to use this potential loss — Peter’s dismay at the idea that MJ won’t remember their relationship — as the impetus for all the multiverse shenanigans. In the comic, Peter and MJ decide together to agree to Mephisto’s terms, only demanding that Mephisto also erase the world’s memory that Peter Parker and Spider-Man are the same person. Their marriage is erased from time, the secret identity cat goes back into the bag, and Peter can go back to being single, awkward Spider-Man again.

Peter Parker and Mary Jane are married, with J. Jonah Jameson, Aunt May, and other Spider-Man characters in attendance in Amazing Spider-Man Annual #21 (1987).

Image: David Michelinie, Paul Ryan/Marvel Comics

Peter and MJ were originally married to great acclaim in 1987’s The Amazing Spider-Man Annual #21. That’s 20 years of marriage out the door, as if it never happened. Fans were largely confused and upset with the choice, feeling as though the comics were retconning one of their most beloved relationships. The creative team stood by the decision though, citing it as a way to keep Peter interesting and fun.

Obviously, the MCU is going to take pieces of this, not the whole thing — and we’ll likely see influences from things like Brian Michael Bendis’ Ultimate Spider-Man or Chip Zdarsky’s Spectacular Spider-Man, which also feature a young Peter reacting to being unmasked and engaging with his older self. Who knows, maybe they’ll finally pull in Mephisto after all.

WWE Raw Results: Winners, Grades, Reaction and Highlights from August 30 - Bleacher Report

0 of 10

    Credit: WWE.com

WWE has officially moved on from SummerSlam as we begin to look forward to the next big pay-per-view on September 26, Extreme Rules.

Following his win over Goldberg at SummerSlam, Bobby Lashley teamed up with Sheamus for a tag team match against Drew McIntyre and Damian Priest on last week's Raw.

Lashley was supposed to battle Sheamus this week, but WWE changed course and booked The Celtic Warrior in a different match.

Last week also saw the official breakup of Eva Marie and Doudrop. The former Piper Niven was giving an interview when Marie attacked her with an equipment crate. This week, Doudrop was given a chance to get some payback on her former "mentor."

Let's take a look at everything that happened on Monday's episode of WWE Raw.

1 of 10

Damian Priest came out at the top of the show and welcomed everyone to Raw before issuing an open challenge for the United States Championship. Sheamus came out to accept, but Drew McIntyre soon joined him.

Lashley and MVP also joined the conversation. The All Mighty was looking to add another title to his resume. The clown car continued to unload as Randy Orton and Riddle came out to talk some trash. Lashley said he might just take their tag titles if they aren't careful.

Sonya Deville and Adam Pearce came out to make Priest vs. Sheamus vs. McIntyre for the U.S. title and RK-Bro vs. MVP and Lashley for the tag titles official.

    Grade: C+

    Analysis

This segment was fine if a little crowded. Priest opening the show was a nice change of pace, especially since it looks like he is finally done with The Miz and John Morrison.

MVP being booked for a tag match with Lashley meant the advertised bout between Lashley and Sheamus was canceled.

2 of 10

Nia Jax accompanied Shayna Baszler to the ring for her match against Rhea Ripley. Nikki A.S.H. was at ringside to support the Australian.

The Queen of Spades focused on Ripley's arm right away to set her up for a submission. The former Raw women's champion ate a stiff kick to the head but still kicked out at two.

Baszler continued to dominate as the show cut to a commercial. She was still in firm control when we returned, but Ripley was starting to show signs of life as she dared her opponent to kick her again and again.

Jax attacked Nikki at ringside, and the distraction allowed Baszler to roll Ripley up, but The Nightmare rolled the pin over and stole the win. Jax came in and hit her with a Samoan drop right away.

    Grade: B

    Analysis

WWE needs to decide if it wants to break up Jax and Baszler and just pull the trigger. This back-and-forth stuff is starting to wear thin.

The Queen of Spades looked vicious during the first half of the match, which is how she should always be booked. This was one of the first times since her breakout performance at Elimination Chamber 2020 that she has had a chance to shine on her own.

The friendship between Ripley and Nikki is still a work in progress, but they could grow into an entertaining duo with the right opportunities.

This was a physical contest with some great technique. Both women came away from this looking like dangerous competitors, which is not always an easy thing to do in a singles match.

3 of 10

Shanky sat this one out while Jinder Mahal and Veer took on Erik and Ivar in tag team action. Veer and Ivar started for their teams with a basic lockup into a headlock.

Erik tagged in, and he and Ivar hit a double-team move for a quick two-count. The former Raw tag team champions kept the newcomer isolated for a bit, but an unorthodox Thesz press allowed Veer to make the tag to Mahal.

They cut Ivar off from his partner with quick tags, but the powerhouse was never going to stay down for long. He cartwheeled into a kick before bringing Erik back in.

Ivar took out Veer and Shanky with a senton from the apron, leaving Mahal by himself to take the Viking Experience. Erik made the cover and scored the win.

    Grade: B

    Analysis

This was a quick but fun tag team match. Mahal and Veer made a good combination, but Erik and Ivar were the real stars here.

The best part about this is that it looks like WWE is trying to build up some competition in the Raw tag team division. The trio of Veer, Shanky and Mahal could become like The New Day and cycle people in and out of matches.

4 of 10

Priest's first U.S. title defense began at the bottom of the first hour. All three men looked ready to fight before the announcer had finished his introduction.

Priest and McIntyre ended up forming a temporary alliance so they could beat up Sheamus, but the Irishman rolled out of the ring to escape their wrath. The champion followed with a dive from the ropes to take him down.

The Celtic Warrior was dumped into the timekeeper's area, leaving Priest and McIntyre to fight between themselves.

We returned to see Sheamus back in the fight and in control. He ran McIntyre into the ring post so he could focus on the U.S. champion. Priest put him in a modified triangle choke but had to release when Sheamus rolled it into a pin.

All three men came close to winning at different points before we went to a second break. We came back to see all three competitors looking winded as they tried whatever they could think of to put each other away.

McIntyre spiked Sheamus with the Future Shock DDT and lined up for the Claymore, but he ran into a huge knee from The Celtic Warrior. The Archer of Infamy ended up retaining the title when he hit McIntyre with his finisher. The Scot shook his hand to show him some respect after it was over.

    Grade: A

    Analysis

This was three big dudes beating the hell out of each other. What more could you want out of a pro wrestling match?

The feud between Sheamus and McIntyre is well-traveled territory, but adding Priest and the U.S. title to the mix helped make this feel less like just another chapter in their ongoing story. It felt fresh.

All three men looked fantastic in this performance and helped make Raw's midcard title feel important. This bout would have been right at home on any pay-per-view card and would have been one of the highlights. Priest beating two former WWE champions is definitely his biggest win to date.

5 of 10

Doudrop didn't even wait for the bell. She attacked Marie as soon as she got to the ring. She counted the pin herself while the ref tried to get her to stop.

He ended up declaring Marie unable to compete on the night, so Doudrop grabbed the mic and announced herself as the winner.

    Grade: Incomplete

    Analysis

There was no match, so there isn't much to grade. Doudrop clearly could have won easily, so it's weird that WWE felt the need to extend this feud by booking it this way. The crowd was pretty quiet for all of this, too.

6 of 10

Karrion Kross was up next for a contest against a man who hasn't been on Raw nearly enough in recent months, Humberto Carrillo.

Kross took control early, and other than a short burst of offense from Carrillo, he dominated the majority of the match. He finished the bout with the Kross Jacket submission.

    Grade: C-

    Analysis

Kross went from being an interesting character in NXT to being a reject from Demolition in about a month. It's truly remarkable how WWE has bungled his transition to the main roster without Scarlett.

This was a short and uneventful match that barely scratched the surface of what either of these competitors can do. What they did do looked good, but it wasn't enough.

The crowd gave Kross almost no reaction. It's kind of sad because he's actually a good wrestler who could be a huge star with the right booking.

7 of 10

After her partner fought Ripley earlier in the show, Jax had a singles match against Charlotte Flair. Unfortunately for her, the Raw women's title was not on the line and Baszler opted not to accompany her to the ring.

The Queen rolled out of the ring to avoid Jax as she charged at her. They eventually locked up, and the champ had to resort to pulling some hair to break her opponent's grip.

The Irresistible Force overpowered her when she tried to hit a suplex and fired back with a headbutt. Charlotte had to take a breather at ringside before she was able to hit a slingshot crossbody from the ring to the floor.

They had a stiff exchange at one point that ended with Charlotte taking out Jax's knee to get her ready for the Figure Eight. In a somewhat surprising outcome, Jax picked up the win with a powerbomb.

    Grade: B

    Analysis

Surprisingly, the crowd started to get behind Jax and chanted her name as she controlled the early part of the match. She might be a heel, but the fans were more in the mood to boo Charlotte.

They worked a smart pace and used their individual strengths to their advantage. Jax focused on her power, while The Queen tried to use her speed and agility to stay out of her grasp.

The match got more intense as it went on and almost looked like it turned into a real fight for a few seconds when they started slapping each other. It added some brutality that made the whole thing more fun to watch, but it will be interesting to find out if they went off script.

8 of 10

John Morrison was supposed to have a match against The Miz this week, but he said The A-Lister backed out at the last second, so he requested a bout against Omos for some inexplicable reason.

Johnny Drip Drip used his quickness to stay out of Omos' range and hit him with a few strikes, but the big man eventually got his hand on him and threw him over the top rope to the floor.

Morrison and Omos mistimed a parkour spot at ringside, but they recovered quickly and got back in the ring. AJ Styles' personal colossus hit his two-handed chokeslam for a surprisingly quick win.

    Grade: C-

    Analysis

WWE advertised Morrison vs. The Miz and Lashley vs. Sheamus, and it didn't deliver on either promise. The only advertised match to take place was Marie vs. Doudrop, so management was clearly writing this show right up until it started.

It looked like JoMo would get a babyface push after his breakup with The A-Lister, so it was a strange decision to have him lose so quickly to Omos in a throwaway match.

There was no real explanation for The Miz's absence, so it was probably travel issues or something along those lines. Either way, this was a weird booking decision.

9 of 10

After Omos defeated Morrison, Xavier Woods immediately made his entrance to take on Styles. Omos remained at ringside to watch his teammate's back.

Woods got the upper hand right away and hit a series of quick moves. The Phenomenal One tried to counter him, but the New Day member was too quick and dropped him across the barricade.

The New Day's resident trombone player avoided the Phenomenal Forearm by rolling out of the ring, but he couldn't avoid the baseball slide dropkick Styles hit a moment later.

Woods turned things around and hung Styles in the Tree of Woe for a dropkick to score a two-count. The Phenomenal One was able to lock in the Calf Crusher for the submission victory.

    Grade: B-

    Analysis

Woods has been in a tag team for so long that it's easy to forget just how good he is on his own. He and Styles have worked together many times over the years, so it wasn't surprising to see them put on a solid performance.

Omos had no involvement, so this was a pure singles match between two guys who are known for their exciting offense and innovative ideas.

Even though he lost, it's been nice to see Woods get some time to shine on his own while Kofi Kingston is out of action. He should be in consideration for a U.S. or intercontinental title reign at some point.

10 of 10

The main event of the night was the Raw Tag Team Championship match between The Hurt Business and RK-Bro. Styles and Omos stayed by the commentary table to watch the action up close.

Riddle went right after Lashley once the ref called for the bell, but The All Mighty easily countered and hit a vertical suplex for a near-fall.

Once MVP tagged in, Riddle was able to push him to the corner so he could tag Orton. He stomped on MVP's arms and legs as he looked Lashley right in the eye.

We returned from a break to see Lashley slam Riddle so MVP could get a two-count. The Original Bro backflipped to his corner so he could make the hot tag to a fresh Viper.

He took out Lashley with a rope-hung DDT, but that distraction allowed MVP to recover and hit him with a boot to the face. Riddle hit the Floating Bro on Lashley, but MVP was there to break up the pin.

Riddle prevented Omos from interfering and hit MVP with the Floating Bro for the win.

    Grade: B+

    Analysis

WWE has been booking a lot of rematches lately, but this week's show seemed to break away from that trend and this match was one of the prime examples.

MVP looked great for a guy who has barely wrestled this year, but Orton was the one getting the most love from the crowd. He is as over as any other babyface in the company right now.

This was a good main event, but it's hard not to think Sheamus, Priest and McIntyre would have been better suited for this spot.

This week's show had more hits than misses, which is not something we can say about Raw most weeks. At least half of what took place is worth checking out.

Kanye West's 'Donda' sets Apple Music record with 60M streams in first day - AppleInsider

Kanye West's hotly anticipated — and much-delayed — album "Donda" was streamed more than 60 million times by Apple Music users in the U.S. following a debut on Sunday, a record for the service.

Citing sources familiar with the matter, Billboard reports "Donda" took the third spot on Apple Music's list of albums with the most streams after 24 hours of availability.

Topping Apple's all-time debut chart is J. Cole's 2018 effort "KOD," which raked in 64.5 million streams in its first 24 hours. Drake's "Views" is currently in second with about 63.5 million streams.

"Donda" set another record by summiting Apple Music's top albums charts in 152 countries over the 24-hour debut period. The performance propelled West to become Apple Music's most-streamed artist since the album was released on Sunday, with tracks accounting for 19 of the top 20 spots on the service's Daily Top 100 Global songs chart, the report says.

West's 10th studio record, "Donda" was supposedly slated for release in late July. The rapper reportedly pushed that date to Aug. 6, then again to Aug. 22, with the album finally showing up on Apple Music a week later. West claimed the album was released without his permission with one track — "Jail, Pt. 2" featuring Marilyn Manson and DaBaby — missing.

Amid the launch date confusion West held multiple listening parties at stadiums in Atlanta and Chicago to hype the album's release. Those events attracted tens of thousands of fans and respectively broke Apple Music live-streaming records.

SHINee’s Key unveils emotional new music video for ‘Hate That…’ featuring Taeyeon - NME.com

SHINee’s Key has dropped a dramatic video for his new single ‘Hate That…’, featuring Taeyeon of Girls’ Generation.

The video opens with Key dwelling alone in a space station, before making an escape for Earth after the station starts to malfunction. The clip also features the SHINee member singing in the rain, expressing his frustration towards a former lover, hoping for them to feel as miserable as he does.

Later, he joins Taeyeon back on earth, where harmonise on the chorus: “And I hate and I hate / That you’re happy without me / And I pray and I pray / I want you to regret more than I do / If you loved me / I just hate that you’re happy.

‘Hate That…’ has been dubbed a “pre-release” single, in anticipation of Key’s upcoming solo mini-album, due out in September. Immediately after the song’s release, Key took to Instagram to post a behind-the-scenes shot from the music video. “Hate that is out!!!,” he captioned.

‘Hate That…’ marks the SHINee member’s first solo release in nearly three years, since his 2019 project ‘I Wanna Be’. That release was a repackaged version of his 2018 debut solo studio album ‘Face’, and featured collaborations with SISTAR‘s Soyou, (G)I-DLE‘s Soyeon and South Korean singer Crush.

Earlier this year, SHINee made their long-awaited return with the album ‘Don’t Call Me’. The group later released a repackaged edition of the album titled ‘Atlantis’, which featured three new tracks.

In a four-star reviewNME’s Puah Ziwei said that ‘Atlantis’ showed that “the Princes of K-pop add a final coat of lacquer to ‘Don’t Call Me’ with three exceptional new tunes that give it that much-needed sheen of perfection”.

A new Bangtan Episode was released on Sunday, taking BTS fans behind-the-scenes of the K-pop group's SBS Gayo Daejeon performances. The event, which took place in December 2020, saw members RM, Jin, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook performing to Black Swan, Life Goes On and a Christmas-themed Dynamite. Suga was absent, recovering from a shoulder surgery.

In the video, the members first shot Black Swan. Dressed in black outfits, the stage was set using fake snow and other props. During a portion of the performance, RM, Jin, Jimin, V and Jungkook were supposed to run from behind the cameras and join J-Hope on stage for a particular choreography.

However, when the members ran towards the centre stage, RM fell. The rapper took a tumble twice and his fellow members, Jungkook, Jin and Jimin, crashed into him. While Jungkook and Jin managed to balance themselves, Jimin fell on his knees.

The sight not only left BTS members in splits but fans also couldn't stop watching the bit. Besides the fall, the video also featured a segment in which the members addressed fans, thanking them for their love. While members poured their hearts out, Jungkook sneakily played hide-and-seek with the camera. His goofy act lasted for a while before RM noticed him and broke into a fit of laughter.

BTS recently made headlines for holding the top spot of the Billboard Hot 100 for for ten consecutive weeks. While Butter ranked No. 1 for nine weeks, Permission to Dance held the spot for one week. The feat led to accusations that ARMY, the BTS fandom, is manipulating the music chart.

Speaking with Billboard last week, RM said, "It’s a fair question. But if there is a conversation inside Billboard about what being No. 1 should represent, then it’s up to them to change the rules and make streaming weigh more on the ranking. Slamming us or our fans for getting to No. 1 with physical sales and downloads, I don’t know if that’s right ... It just feels like we’re easy targets because we’re a boy band, a K-pop act, and we have this high fan loyalty."

Marvel Debuts Action-Packed ‘Shang-Chi’ Clip & IMAX Poster - News Nation USA

Marvel Studios has released the first clip of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings as well as the film’s IMAX poster.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is set to hit cinemas early next month, making it the first Marvel film to exclusively hit cinemas since 2019’s SpiderMan: Far From Home. With tickets now available for purchase, the studio has debuted the film’s first clip.

The short clip shows Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi and Awkwafina’s Katy escaping assassins on the scaffolding of a giant skyscraper. Eventually, the assassins find the duo, which forces Shang-Chi to battle them across the scaffolding. The scene does a great job of showing the film’s emphasis on grounded martial arts against a typical Marvel set piece.

Comicbook.com also debuted Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings‘ IMAX poster. The poster does a great job of emphasizing the hero and his father: The Mandarin. Beside the father-son, two dragons can be seen flying in the air, teasing the film’s fantastical elements. Awkwafina’s Katy can also be seen using a bow, channeling her inner Hawkeye.

As the poster hints at, select scenes from the Marvel film were filmed with IMAX cameras. Razor Fist, a mercenary hired to kill Shang-Chi, and Xialing, the protagonists’ sister, are also seen on the brand new poster.

Here is the synopsis for Shang-Chi and the Legend of The Ten Rings:

“Simu Liu stars as Shang-Chi in Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings. Shang-Chi must confront the past he thought he left behind when he is drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization.”

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a script written by David Callaham, the Marvel film stars Simu Liu, Awkwafina, Tony Leung, Ronny Chieng, and Dallas Liu. The upcoming movie will hit theaters on September 3, 2021.

BTS, Megan Thee Stallion "Butter" Remix Stream | HYPEBEAST - HYPEBEAST

BTS and Megan Thee Stallion have teamed up for the first time ever to remix the former’s smash hit “Butter.” Earlier this week, it was unsure if the remix would ever release, as Megan filed a temporary restraining order against her label 1501 Certified Entertainment, stating that they were blocking her from appearing on the track. On August 24, a judge in Megan’s home state of Texas ruled in favor of Megan’s temporary order, permitting her — and BTS — to begin promoting the track and release it.

The original version of “Butter” spent nine weeks on top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart before falling to The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber’s “Stay,” but with Megan’s extensive fan base (the Hotties) joining BTS’s globe-spanning ARMY, there’s a good chance it’ll roar to the top of the charts once again. The song’s already-catchy nature is given an extra lyrical boost by Megan’s standard firey rhymes, with the Lone Star State representative spittling bars like “Houston’s finest, in the room with bosses/Make ‘em all get ratchet in they suits and blouses.”

Stream BTS and Megan Thee Stallion’s “Butter” remix above.

Elsewhere in the world of music, we’re asking a potent question in our latest music editorial: are posthumous album releases unethical?

New ‘Shang-Chi’ Clip Reveals ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Character Cameo - News Nation USA

A new clip from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings reveals a hilarious cameo from a Spider-Man: Homecoming character.

The press tour for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has officially begun after the premiere earlier this week. Fans and critics who managed to see the film early have praised Marvel’s latest for being filled with intense, inspired action sequences and emotional family beats. Simu Liu stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! to talk about his debut as a Marvel hero with the film coming out early next month. Liu also brought with him an action-packed clip that teases just how awesome the film’s action sequences are. Eagle-eyed Marvel heads, however, will spot a familiar character from Spider-Man: Homecoming occupying the scene’s background.

The lengthy clip takes place on an LRT where Shang-Chi and Katy are being pursued by assassins. There, Shang-Chi reveals his might and fights off the would-be killers. With the action picking up, the camera then quickly cuts to a passenger live-streaming the fight as he delivers hilarious commentary. Hardcore Marvel fans will know that this passenger is none other than a street vendor from Spider-Man: Homecoming who tells Spidey to “do a flip”.

The Spider-Man: Homecoming character is seen at the 10:06 mark.

The cameo is likely a deliberate one as Marvel has become more consistent in building out its universe through subtle cameos and references in the last few years. Seeing as this scene takes place in San Francisco, it’s interesting how the New York vendor either made the move to California or is just vacationing there. Hopefully, we see more of the Spider-Man: Homecoming character throughout the MCU.
