SM Entertainment announces huge plans for NCT Hollywood, but fans don't want any part of it - Sportskeeda

It was announced on June 29th during SM Congress 2021 that SM Entertainment will launch a new program called NCT Hollywood.

SM Entertainment, which is home to groups such SHINee and EXO among others, will work on this project in collaboration with MGM Worldwide Television Group.

At the moment, NCT has 23 members that includes the members of the sub-units. The new program will add more members to the act and the ones selected will work primarily in the US.

What is NCT Hollywood?

There are multiple sub-units within NCT such as NCT Dream, NCT U, and NCT 127, and NCT Hollywood would be another such sub-unit. The members will be American male individuals aged between 13 and 25.

MGM chairman Mark Burnett revealed the following through a video clip presented at the Congress: "21 lucky contestants will be selected to join SM in Seoul, Korea and go through a K-pop bootcamp right there."

MGM is also home to hit American reality shows including Survivor and The Voice, and they will hold the auditions. NCT's Doyoung, Mark and Kun spoke about the plans with Lee Soo-man.

NCT members will take part as judges and mentors in NCT Hollywood

It was confirmed during the Congress that some members will also take part in the search for NCT Hollywood members. They will appear as judges and mentors for future members of the act.

Fan are not happy with NCT Hollywood, as majority react on Twitter

Fans are divided over the announcement of NCT's new project, NCT Hollywood. Many are excited to see which existing members will turn into mentors. Quite a few believe that Ten will make a great mentor. However, others think this wouldn't be a great move.

There could be many reasons behind fans' worries. One reason could be the fact that the inclusion of more members would mean more pressure on the leader of the group, Taeyong. He would have to oversee NCT Hollywood's activities, in addition to all the other divisions.

In addition to NCT Hollywood's launch, NCT's Doyoung also revealed some other activities. He said:

"This year, we’ll continue to participate in activities that can showcase NCT’s identity. In addition to the promotion of NCT DREAM’s repackaged album, NCT 127 plans on promoting a full-length and repackaged album."

He also added:

"WayV is working hard to prepare for activities after that. NCT U will also greet fans with a new combination [of members] this year, so I trust NCTzen (NCT’s official fan club) will enjoy that a lot.”

Hermès SS22 Is Perfect for Post-Pandemic Life - HYPEBEAST

Nothing says “luxury” like Hermès, but this world is full of surprises and somehow even Hermès felt relevant for a post-pandemic lifestyle as it presented its Spring/Summer 2022 collection. Designed in collaboration with the theater director Cyril Teste (who also designed the set) for the third time now, Véronique Nichanian captured typical house design cues and all the expected levels of extravagance all while nurturing familiarity, approachability, and common sense.

Debuted in the courtyard of Mobilier National in Paris, Teste constructed a triangular array of screens that showed off every angle of the models in high-definition glory to hundreds of poncho-clad onlookers, blurring the lines between the digital world that fashion weeks have adapted to (for better or for worse, we’ll let you decide) and the real world.

As for what was actually debuted on the catwalk, we find it all perfect for a post-pandemic world. As we’ve succumbed to comfort and ease, it’d be wrong for Hermès to deliver something that’s both physically and visually uncomfortable — we can’t all jump right back into looks. So, fan-favorite technical-meets-formal trousers that are typically fitted now come in a generous cut like our lounge pants, summer-ready shorts are knee-length like our boxers (or served up in leather if that’s your thing), and overall, everything felt unrestrictive and breezy — the shirts, for example, billowed and draped from the shoulders, but took this look up a notch so not to look too “I just got out of bed, and this is my bed shirt.” Instead, it was the perfect hybrid attitude of formal pieces with casual prints and an unrestrained cut, coming together for something very welcoming.

Elsewhere, though, were more typical Hermès tropes. Crocodile shirts anyone? Cardigans reminiscent of a shepherd’s delight? There really was something for everyone, and for all occasions too.

For a collection that’s even more laidback, check out the latest season from OAMC.

New Loki episode has blown everyone's mind: "One of the best post credits scenes of the MCU" - Gamesradar

Warning: Major spoilers ahead for Loki episode 4! Turn back now if you haven't seen the latest episode on Disney Plus!

Loki episode 4 ended with a bang – and the series' first post-credits scene. While the twists and turns just kept coming, including Owen Wilson's Mobius getting pruned, and the Time Keepers turning out to be nothing but androids, the final moments of the episode have got everyone talking.

In the post-credits scene, Loki, who was apparently killed (again) by Renslayer, wakes up in an unknown location. That's not the weird part, though. He's faced with four different versions of himself: one played by Richard E. Grant, one a reptile, one a child, and one a man who is wielding a hammer.

The credits reveal more about these newbies. Grant's version of the trickster is Classic Loki, while the younger Loki played by Jack Veal is Kid Loki. DeObia Oparei's hammer-wielding God of Mischief is Boastful Loki.

Naturally, the internet has a lot of thoughts about the episode.

"Tom Hiddleston didn't lie when he said that end of Episode 4, start of Episode 5 is where the show takes off in a new direction and I can't wait for next week WTF," says @MSpector_JM, while @Reedushiddles says "this is one of the best post credits scenes of the mcu."

The reveal of more Loki Variants is also causing a stir:

Meanwhile, Alligator Loki is proving to be the unlikely star of the episode:

One person even pointed out that the remains of what appears to be Avengers Tower are behind the new Lokis, suggesting they're in New York – but how exactly that will play out remains to be seen.

This is also far from the first time Loki has been "killed" onscreen – as the trickster himself points out in the episode – and that hasn't gone unnoticed, either.

We'll have to wait and see how the introduction of more Variants affects the series – Loki is dropping its remaining two episodes weekly, and you can see our Loki release schedule to find out exactly when the next installment drops. Olivia Rodrigo Shares New Concert Film, ‘Sour Prom’ - uDiscover Music

Olivia Rodrigo has shared a prom-themed concert film in support of her debut album, Sour. Appropriately titled Sour Prom, the film premiered as a livestream on Rodrigo’s official YouTube channel last night (June 29) at 11:30pm US eastern time (4:30am June 30 BST). You can watch it below.

Described in a press release as “the ultimate alternative prom experience”, Sour Prom features a full live set by Rodrigo performing select cuts from Sour.

Rodrigo also hosted a pre-premiere party 30 minutes prior to the film’s stream, answering questions from fans and sharing behind-the-scenes stories about the film.

Sour was released back in May through Polydor/Geffen, and featured the singles “Drivers License”, “Déjà vu” and “Good 4 U”.

Typical of the response to the record, the NME dubbed the album “an almost-masterpiece that’s equal parts confident, cool and exhilaratingly real”, calling Rodrigo “[an artist] we’ll be living with for years to come”.

“Driver’s License” was an immediate hit upon its release in January, going viral on TikTok, earning praise from Taylor Swift and spurring covers by jxdn and Travis Barker, Yungblud and Kelly Clarkson (and a cover of “Jealousy, Jealousy” by Brie Larson).

In addition, Rodrigo has performed a slew of Sour singles on late night television, such as Fallon and SNL, as well as for the Grammy Museum.

She told NME that the response to her breakout track was “absolutely surreal”, and that “all the recognition the song has got is beyond [her] wildest dreams”.

Elsewhere, Rodrigo continues to dominate in the UK, where she has reclaimed the chart double. The U.S. teen phenomenon’s Sour, released by Geffen, returned to No. 1 on the Official UK Albums Chart for a third week, while her hit single, “Good 4 U” has entered a fifth week atop the Official UK Singles Chart. The success of both the hit single and its parent album are powered by streams.

A bright future for tailoring at the Paris menswear collections - Financial Times

Do fashion shows help sell a dream? When well done, yes. But although restrictions have been eased, and numerous fashion houses are planning to present to live audiences for the haute couture season in July, only a handful of labels opted to do so for the menswear spring/summer 2022 shows, with Dior and Hermès by far the most established.

The past year has proved that fashion shows are not essential to businesses. Many designers didn’t mention hankering after physical showcases while presenting their collections via film or photography. They had simpler desires, it seems. “All I want to do is to go to a nightclub and play really loud music,” said Louis Vuitton’s artistic director of menswear, Virgil Abloh, ahead of unveiling his collection.

A few hours before, Jonathan Anderson — who designs under his own name and for LVMH brand Loewe — also listed nightclubbing as one of the experiences denied to the youth of 2021. Both used bright colour, energetic cuts and sportswear to evoke the idea of raving, safely, in their garments.

Loewe menswear spring/summer 2022

Which, oddly, echoes the power of a fashion show — people gathering together to experience something live. However, since large-scale shows could be a thing of the past, designers are adapting. Abloh’s and Anderson’s work translates perfectly to new media, and Vuitton’s spring/summer 2022 menswear video has now reached 150m views.

So fashion shows aren’t essential — neither are expensive clothes. But both are, at their best, achingly desirable. Veronique Nichanian’s clothes at Hermès are invariably whisper-soft in their subtlety, and video presentations can’t capture the magic of seeing her clothes in the flesh.

She held her show en plein air in the courtyard of the Mobiler National. An outdoor show had the pro of a mask-free audience but the con of real-life weather. Just before it began, the heavens opened, demonstrating the water-repellent properties of Nichanian’s technical clothing, and spotting a few pieces of five-figure suede outerwear.

No matter, this collection was great and Hermès ingeniously integrated technology via enormous screens that broadcast models live to a global audience, as well as to those huddled in the rain in the 13th arrondissement.

The screens highlighted charming details, such as the metallic green of a zip-puller on a pair of canvas shorts, worn below a mouliné cashmere cardigan fading from peach through to watermelon pink, that could have been lost but make these clothes feel so special.

Admittedly, the audiences who will see these details number a few hundred: but the magic translates to retail. Nichanian’s work has immense hanger appeal. You’d notice those zips.

Nichanian also arguably pioneered the new mood of haute casual in fashion, which translates to items such as blouson jackets in crocodile and shorts in goatskin and loads of cashmere jumpers and cardigans, which she has been doing for years. It has also been the prevalent fashion mood for the past 12 months as designers have shied away from suits, given that many people may rarely visit the office again.

So it was surprising there was something of a tailoring revival in Paris: Bruno Sialelli at Lanvin showed desirable slouchy styles in Duran Duran pastels and couture fabrics; Luke and Lucie Meier of Jil Sander showed “one and a half”-breasted tailored coats that looked much less tricksy than they sound; and Riccardo Tisci’s Burberry (showing digitally from London, but at the same time as Paris’s fashion week) hacked the sleeves off blazers to emphasise beefed-up biceps and macho brawn.

One of the most compelling came from Space Age label Courrèges, where Nicolas Di Felice, an affable Belgian who knows what he is doing, resurrected the house’s menswear with slick, sharp, youthful tailoring at its heart, including white coats with clinical precision and collarless Beatles-ish single-breasted jackets. At 37 years old, Di Felice seems to have interpreted the Courrèges menswear line so he can wear it himself, which means these clothes are down to earth.

Powerhouses Louis Vuitton and Dior made the most insistent argument for the return of suiting, albeit by evolving them with slouchy volumes, sports-influenced detailing and eye-watering colour, combinations that made them seem more like performance gear for a pop star. And perhaps that is the future of the suit, as dress-up clothes rather than a professional expectation.

Virgil Abloh, who spent a period of his career working with Kanye West, always brings a sense of occasion and flamboyance to his clothes — tailored suits and tracksuits alike. “The business is classic tailoring,” Abloh said, of LV. “There’s a tradition to uphold.”

But neither suits felt traditional, with tracksuits trimmed in leather and tailoring in neon green, or cyclamen, or white with scalloped edges like little teeth nibbling at the body. You didn’t need a close-up live show to see the details — these clothes grab attention.

“Dior is about tailoring,” stated Dior’s Kim Jones — and it proved the linchpin, albeit in peyote-induced hues such as mauve, burnt ochre, juicy aloe green and blush pink. Bright suits, in case you haven’t figured, are next season’s big thing in Paris. The silhouette comprised slouchy flared trousers and slender shoulders, jackets fastening high — and it was a mark of Jones’s skill that the shape leapt out, despite everything going on around it (not least the giant fibreglass cacti).

Jones partnered with musician Travis Scott to create a collaborative line, fusing Jones’s design skills with Scott’s personal taste. “Thank God he has good taste,” Jones said before the collection made its debut to a live audience under a multihued LED sky and a set that morphed from a French rose garden to a cacti-studded American desert (Scott was born in Houston, Texas).

Jones’s version of the saddle bag was reworked by Scott (it was doubled), and Jones’s revival of the 1960s Dior logo print was reworked to spell “Jack”, inspired by Scott’s record label Cactus Jack. It was deftly done, beautifully realised, fresh and exciting.

And outside, thousands of screaming teenagers thronged the Dior venue trying to get a peek at their idol — and were probably, suddenly, interested in a French luxury goods house that maybe didn’t register on their radar before. They may also now want to wear a neon suit. Simple.

Heidi Klum endorses fashionable quick-change artist Lea Kyle with ‘America’s Got Talent’ Golden Buzzer - Gold Derby

Heidi Klum gave us an “America’s Got Talent” first Tuesday night when she gave quick-change artist Lea Kyle the coveted Golden Buzzer endorsement. The vast majority of golden buzzer acts through the years have been singers, but never before has a fashion act like Lea been given the straight-t0-the-live-shows treatment.

As a supermodel, no one knows fashion like Heidi so when she commented on the “glitzy, gorgeous dresses” already on stage we knew that she was excited for what was to come. Making her living as a beautician, Lea became inspired to merge her love of beauty and fashion with performing after meeting her boyfriend Florian Sainvet who auditioned for the show last season. The dresses she used in her act were all her own creations, adding to artistry of her complete audition.

Quick-change artistry typically involves changing from one outfit into another behind curtains, but in such rapid pace that it’s almost magical. Shortly into Lea’s audition it was clear that she was pushing herself beyond what’s been seen before. While her first change was behind a curtain, her second and third happened in plain sight in pull-away and a cool mosaic fall-away style, respectively. From there she just kept upping the ante to the point of what seemed like magic to a shocked judges panel.

Howie Mandel jumped from his seat in amazement mid-performance and said that they’ve never seen a quick-change artist better than her. Sofia Vergara noticed that Lea had a great time performing and Simon Cowell said it was “very, very cool,” which by now signified that the judges would give her enough votes to move on. But Heidi, in the final critique, noted that because they’ve “never really had anyone that is as good as [Lea]” she felt she should go straight to the live shows. That’s when she added the confetti of a Golden Buzzer to the “magic, incredible, and flawless” traits of Lea’s performance.

In the audition phase of “AGT,” an act needs at least three of the four judges to give them a “yes” vote to advance to the next round. If two or more judges buzz the act, they are immediately eliminated. Each judge and Crews has one chance to hit the “golden buzzer” and send an act straight through to the live performances. Lea joins the four acts to also receive the Golden Buzzer this season: Sofia’s pick Jimmie Herrod, Terry’s pick World Taekwondo, Howie’s pick Northwell Nurse Choir and Simon’s pick Nightbirde.

‘America’s Got Talent’: Musical theater singer ignites feud between Howie Mandel and … everyone else - Gold Derby

America’s Got Talent” judge Howie Mandel was so grumpy during Tuesday’s fifth audition episode that he was compared to the Grinch and Frankenstein’s monster by fellow panelists Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara. He said “no” to several acts the others loved, including jump-roper Thomas Evans, aerial performer Lea Hinz and dancers Bob’s Dance Shop. But it was Howie’s critique of musical theater singer Tory Vagasy that ignited a feud at the judges’ table.

The 20-year-old Fort Lauderdale, Florida resident came out on stage full of energy, telling the judges she works with kids as a “party princess.” When Tory explained how her dream in life is to be on Broadway, Howie turned to Heidi and hissed, “I’m not a musical theater lover.” Tory then belted out a powerful cover of “Into the Unknown” from “Frozen 2,” sounding every bit as flawless as Idina Menzel herself.

“She rocked the house!” Terry Crews shouted from his position backstage after Tory’s performance. Sofia, Heidi and Simon jumped up to their feet, while Howie simply clapped from a seated position. Sofia told her she “absolutely” deserves to be on Broadway. Heidi remarked on her “beautiful” and “incredible” voice. And Simon complimented her “brilliant” song choice and how it’s great she already knows what kind of career she wants.

Then came Howie. The Canadian judge began, “There’s no mistaking that you have a powerful voice. And I think that you have the energy, you have the stage presence, you checked every box.” After a quick beat, Howie added, “But honestly, I don’t enjoy that kind of music, so for me it’s a no.”

SEE Best acts of ‘America’s Got Talent’ Season 16 (so far): Nightbirde, World Taekwondo, T.3 …

The audience reacted with immediate boos, to which Simon urged, “I actually don’t think you’re booing loud enough.” Howie put his fingers in his ear like a precocious child and pretended not to hear all of the loud grumbles from the crowd.

Simon continued on, “You know what? I think it’s time that we stand up to the Howies of this world and make a statement here … We’re not gonna take this anymore, Howie. We’re not gonna listen to people like you anymore. We’re going to support talent. We’re going to encourage talent.”

After receiving three “yes” votes from the other judges, Tory officially advanced to the next round. Backstage, she explained to Terry, “It meant the world that Simon said that. That just made me so happy.” Her message to fans watching at home? “Don’t give up. Even when the Howies of this world tell you no.”

Courtney Love goes after 18-year-old Olivia Rodrigo over similarities in concept art - The A.V. Club

Courtney Love is demanding her flowers for apparently inventing sad prom queens. Pop’s newest darling Olivia Rodrigo has been called out by Love for allegedly copying Hole’s Live Through This cover art to promote her Sour Prom concert film.

In an Instagram post, Love shares the image of Rodrigo, with the caption, “Spot the difference! #twinning!” Rodrigo replies, “love u and live through this sooooo much.” Love responded, telling the singer that her favorite florist is in Notting Hill, and that she’s expects a note.

The similarities between the images are undeniable: the purple background, the prom queen crown, bouquet of roses, and tear-smeared makeup. However, folks were quick to note other works that deal with emotional prom queens, such as Carrie, which Rodrigo names as an inspiration. While they bear a striking resemblance, a 56-year-old woman picking online fights with an 18-year-old over a widely used theme does not bode well for Love.

The Hole frontperson also shared the image on Facebook and Twitter, further discussing in comment threads why the alleged copying really grinds her gears.

“Stealing an original idea and not asking permission is rude. There’s no way to be elegant about it. I’m not angry. It happens all the time to me,” Love wrote.

“It’s on Geffen (Rodrigo’s record label),” Love continued. “I’ve informed her I await her flowers and note. I sure hope it’s long. Does Disney teach kids reading and writing? God knows. Let’s see. Yes, this is rude. Rage inducing? Honey if I had a dollar for everyone this happens? I’d be real rich!”

This not Rodrigo’s only plagiarism accusation— people also called out the layered similarities between her promotional imagery and that of the band Pom Pom Club. Truly a tough day for anyone who wants to take photos with flowers, tiaras, cheerleader outfits or any other high school related themes.

‘America’s Got Talent’ auditions continue: How to watch Episode 5 online, without cable - OregonLive

Season 16 of America’s Got Talent” continues tonight with Episode 5, which brings another batch of hopefuls who will try to impress the judges. A consistent summertime ratings hit, “America’s Got Talent” has also been notable this season for the knockout performances by two Portland-based singers.

As viewers who watched last week’s episode saw, Jimmie Herrod, a singer with the Portland-based band Pink Martini, dazzled the audience and judges Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara.

(No cable? Live stream “America’s Got Talent” on fuboTV, which offers a 7-day free trial. You can also catch up with episodes on Peacock, the NBCUniversal streaming service.)

So impressive was Herrod’s rendition of “Tomorrow,” the “Annie” chestnut that Cowell had earlier said was his least favorite song, that Vergara hit the “Golden Buzzer.” That gesture sent a flurry of glittering confetti down on Herrod, and meant that he gets to go straight to the live rounds.

Those rounds come later in the season, when viewers will be able to vote for their favorites. The ultimate winner of “America’s Got Talent” will earn the $1 million prize.

Herrod’s performance came a week after Storm Large, who also sings with Pink Martini, brought the judges and audience to their feet with her dynamic, sexy take on the pop standard, “I’ve Got You Under My Skin.”

How will the performers on tonight’s fifth round of auditions do? We’ll just have to tune in, and watch what happens.

“America’s Got Talent” airs from 8-10 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, on NBC.

2PM Discusses Their First Comeback In 5 Years, How It's Different From “My House,” Their Love For Stray Kids, And More - soompi

2PM is finally back after almost five years!

On June 28, 2PM held a press conference for the release of their seventh studio album “MUST.” The group has returned after a long break due to the members having to complete their mandatory military duties.

The members expressed their excitement about returning as a full group in front of their fans. Jun.K shared, “Last year, ‘My House’ unexpectedly received lots of love. I was discharged from the military in January 2020, and right when I was discharged, people around me told me that ‘My House’ was receiving lots of love. The song was released in 2015, and I’m very happy that it was loved by so many people five years after its release. Because people mostly think of ‘My House’ when they think about 2PM, all of the members and the company contemplated a lot about how we can show a sexiness that exceeds that of ‘My House.’ We worked hard and returned with ‘Make It.’ Please show it lots of love.”

Junho, whose viral fancam served as the beginning of the resurgence of “My House,” commented that he enjoyed the popularity while also feeling bewildered by it. Referring to the song’s lyrics, “It’s alright, let’s go to my house,” Junho wittily added, “Many people were debating whose house they should go to. There’s six of us, so you can choose whoever you want.”

“I think the YouTube algorithm played a big part in the resurgence,” Taecyeon added. “While we were in the military, there were such big technological advancements that it was possible to show our hidden sides, and I think that worked as a foothold for the resurgence.”

The new album “MUST” contains ten total tracks, seven of which were worked on by Wooyoung, Jun.K, and Taecyeon. Wooyoung wrote both the melody and lyrics for the title track “Make It.” The Korean title of the song is “Haeya hae,” which translates to “Must do it.”

Wooyoung said, “I’m thankful that ‘Make It’ was chosen as the title track.” On how the song came about, he explained, “The song originates from two questions that I want to ask and ‘must’ ask, which are, ‘If love comes to me again, what should I say?’ and ‘If now is the time for 2PM’s album, what should we do?’ I thought I should leave everything out and just write, ‘Must do it,’ and started from there. The members responded to my song with sincerity. They trusted in me and followed my lead while preparing for the album and recording the song, and seeing that, I worked hard until the end with eagerness to create the best results for these people.”

2PM is already nearing their 13th year together since their debut in September 2008. Throughout the years, 2PM set themselves apart as a physically fit, “beastly” group with powerful performances. While discussing the way they continued to stay fit throughout the 13 years, Wooyoung mentioned Junho’s self-discipline as something he admires in him. Junho explained that he wanted to appear similar to the way he did in the past even after his return from the military.

Asked how the concept of their new album was different from their previous sexy image, Taecyeon responded, “This is the first album we’re releasing after entering our 30s. I was 29 when we released our last album. In our 20s, I think we gave off a stronger feeling of the passionate vigor of youth. I believe the album itself portrayed an atmosphere that the 2PM of that time could show without limiting ourselves to simply being sexy. In the beginning, we radiated a showy, youthful energy with refreshing concepts and acrobatics, and in our 20s, we emphasized the sexiness we could show in our 20s. I think there’s a different sexiness that we can only show in our 30s.”

Regarding a different title they’d like to earn for themselves other than the usual ones like “beast-dol” (beast idol) or “K-sexy” (Korean sexy), Nichkhun said, “I really like ‘beast-dol,’ but I want to say just 2PM. We didn’t make the word ‘beast-dol,’ and the word was created because our fans looked upon us nicely and gave us love, so we always work hard, are humble, and do our best to become the best artists we can be. I think it would be right to say, ‘2PM is 2PM.'”

In response to a question about whether there were any junior groups that caught their eye, Chansung said, “I don’t think there are groups that are similar to us, since every group has their own style. Our juniors Stray Kids really caught my eye. I want them to succeed.” Jun.K added, “I think they are showing great performances as a performance-oriented group.”

Taecyeon, who left JYP Entertainment and joined 51K in 2018, proved that it is possible for an idol to continue promoting with their team even when they are no longer part of the same agency as the other members. He explained, “I think the most important factor is communicating and building trust with each other. In my case, I left JYP Entertainment and became part of a different company, but the most important thing is how we think of each other. We continuously showed understanding and consideration for each other’s circumstances like family rather than work colleagues. So even when I left the agency, it wasn’t like 2PM wasn’t 2PM anymore. I think it’s possible to continue group promotions even after changing agencies as long as you have pride in your group and your members are considerate.”

As for their goals with this comeback, Jun.K shared his wish for more people to know what kind of group 2PM is and the different charms each member has. Junho thanked fans for waiting for them and expressed his hope to promote happily while communicating with fans.

BTS’s ‘Butter’ Sticks At No. 1 For Fifth-Straight Week—Breaking This Record Held By Aerosmith - Forbes

Topline

BTS has officially ruled the month of June in the music world, with the group's latest hit, Butter, topping the Billboard Hot 100 chart for five weeks in a row now—setting a new record for the longest streak ever held for a No. 1 debut by a group.

Key Facts

For almost 23 years, Aerosmith's I Don't Want to Miss a Thing held the record after the hit debuted at No. 1 and held the top spot for four weeks in a row.

Butter racked up 12.4 million U.S. streams, 27.6 million radio airplay impressions and 128,400 downloads over the past week, according to Billboard—which are the stats used to determine the Hot 100.

Based on those numbers, the song has actually become more popular from the week before, which is the first time that's happened since the single debuted at No. 1 on the June 5 chart.

Though streams were down by 1%, radio plays went up 6% and downloads soared 15%, according to Billboard.

Most No. 1 hits taper off in popularity after a short run at the top, but Butter has had a consistent rise in radio plays over the past few weeks.

Songs played on the radio are typically regarded as mainstream hits, and often come after earlier popularity on streaming services and music apps like TikTok.

Crucial Quote

"FIVE weeks in a row!! #BTS_Butter is on the top of the chart again. It’s all thanks to #BTSARMY!" the group tweeted Monday, giving a shoutout to its fervent fan following.

Key Background

Butter has far outlasted any of the K-pop supergroup's other hits atop the Hot 100 chart, and is the second single BTS has released that is all in English, after Dynamite in August of 2020. Dynamite held the top spot on the Hot 100 for two weeks after its release, with Life Goes On being the only other BTS song to hit No. 1 so far, for one week in December. Butter has also had immense popularity outside of the U.S., attracting 289.2 million streams in the week after its release, which "obliterates" the old record of 152.5 million streams in a week, according to Billboard

Surprising Fact

While it's still very rare, it's far less unusual for an individual artist to have a lengthy streak at No. 1. But an instance happened earlier this year, when Olivia Rodrigo's drivers license held the top spot on the Hot 100 chart during an eight-week stretch from Jan. 23-March 13.

Top 10 Songs This Week

1. Butter by BTS

2. good 4 u by Olivia Rodrigo

3. Levitating by Dua Lipa featuring DaBaby

4. Kiss Me More by Doja Cat featuring SZA

5. Peaches by Justin Bieber featuring Daniel Caesar and Giveon

6. Leave The Door Open by Silk Sonic

7. Save Your Tears by The Weeknd and Ariana Grande

8. Montero (Call Me By Your Name) by Lil Nas X

9. deja vu by Olivia Rodrigo

10. Astronaut In The Ocean by Masked Wolf

Mesmerizing performances, Haseul comeback & tears: LOONA’s online concert was a treat for the soul - PINKVILLA

An amazing night full of incredible performances and vocals, read on to know what made LOONA's virtual concert great.

K-Pop girl group LOONA are highly-addictive and a complete powerhouse of talent, with each member oozing incredible charms. The 12-member group debuted in 2018 and today, on June 28, released their fourth mini-album ‘&’, with high expectations from their fandom, ORBIT. This comeback was even more special for fans as it marks the return of leader Haseul, who went on a hiatus for almost a year and a half, to recover from repeated anxiety disorder. The group had their virtual concert for ‘&’ today, and it was filled with their classic flawlessly high-note hitting, detailed performances, laughter, and tears.

The concert was a part of a 2-day event where Day 1 focused on fan meeting and members playing games, while Day 2 was a full-fledged concert of around three hours. The concert was titled 이달의 소녀 ON WAVE [LOOΠΔTHEWORLD : &]. Talking about the comeback album first, LOONA’s title track from the latest album ‘PTT (Paint The Town)’ was gaining a lot of attention as it is a dance hip hop track mixed with Bollywood music elements. The music video released today showcased the girls’ addictive and powerful music, along with their intense dance moves!

In celebration of their comeback after almost seven months, LOONA’s hard work to give ORBITs a great time at the concert was apparent. The group performed a majority of their songs, the count going up to more than 14 songs. Some of these were performed for the first time and some of them were even performed as remixes, making ORBITs demand the remix versions to be released too! The concert started with So What, and moved on to Colors, HEAT, Butterfly, UNIVERSE, Dance on My Own, Satellite, STAR, Ding Dang Dong and more.

LOONA set the stage on fire from the start with their black leather outfits, skirts and knee-length boots. When the lights dimmed and the girls performed Butterfly, all ORBITs collectively went into fanboy/fangirl mode as they couldn’t stop gushing over getting a OT12 version of the song, while the background LED setup changed into a dreamlike atmosphere. Same was the case for the optimistic, soulful track ‘Universe’. The stage transformed into a dream-like, cool stage with members’ smooth choreography. They also sang their English song STAR, thanking ORBITs for getting them on Billboard Charts with the song. The members first sported chic leather outfits, then moved on to stylish denim attire, with a comfy, loose plain white tshirt fit towards the encore performances.

Through this one day concert, LOONA has shown their impressive skills in performing live. They can hit flawless high notes, dance with amazing synchrony, all the while keeping fans engaged with their expressions and gestures! They took ORBITs back in time as they performed their debut song, Hi High, as a surprise encore performance too! They also performed the funky ‘WOW’ and powerful ‘PTT (Paint the Town)’ from their latest album ‘&’ for the first time in the concert. Their surprise encore performance was of their debut track and signed off with the special song 365.

It wouldn’t be a concert if members didn’t cry! Haseul tried to hold back her tears, and some members encouraged her to let it all out. She expressed how grateful she was for the members and apologized to ORBITs for not staying with them for the past two and half years, officially. Comments flooded in showering love to her and all the members (especially when any of them rapped or hit stable, powerful high notes!).

With this concert, LOONA gave ORBITs more to cherish and love, as was evident with the aftermath of the concert where fans couldn’t stop talking about the members on Twitter and Instagram.

K-Pop boy band 2PM makes comeback after 5 years with studio album 'MUST' - Republic World

K-Pop boy band 2PM has made its comeback with the release of its seventh studio album MUST. The boy band was on a long hiatus from 2016 when they last released their album Gentleman’s Game. The group took the 5-year break because many of the members of the band enlisted for the mandatory 2-year military service that has to be completed by all the male population of South Korea.

In the music video of the song MUST, members of 2PM are seen in the middle of an apocalypse as a meteor falls. In the video, while everyone else can be seen running for their lives, the members of the boy band seem to be captivated by a girl and seem to get drawn towards her. The video features all six members of the group. Jun. K, Nichkhun, Taecyeon, Wooyoung, Junho and Chansung can be seen dancing and singing flawlessly in the music video.

Nichkhun’s highlight medley

Nichkhun took to his Instagram on June 24 and shared a highlight medley of the album MUST. The release of the highlight medley also coincided with Nichkhun’s birthday. In the medley, all six members of the boy band performed a small part of all the songs that were released in the studio album. Songs from the studio album include Ok or Not, On My Way and Hold You.

2PM Comeback 2021

On June 7, JYP Entertainment shared the first cinematic trailer of the studio album, MUST. The trailer was titled The Hottest Origin and featured all the members of the group. From the trailer release till the release of the studio album, many posters were released by JYP Entertainment featuring the members of 2PM. On June 25, a track film named The Café released on the Twitter handle of the group.

2PM

LOONA Talks About Their New Comeback, Their Rise To Success, And Haseul's Return - soompi

On June 28, LOONA held an online showcase for the release of their new mini album “&.” The showcase was hosted by DinDin.

“&” is LOONA’s first comeback since the release of the album “12:00” in October 2020. Chuu said, “We’ve returned with the new mini album ‘&’ in eight months. It’s an album that we made without fans in mind. Because of that, we can say that we have a lot of confidence in the album.”

Heejin said, “We had a lot of experiences in the time between albums, including going on a famous American radio show.” Yves added, “Chuu went on a lot of variety shows and helped put LOONA’s name out there,” and Chuu said, “The members gave me a lot of support.”

For this comeback, LOONA will be promoting with all 12 members, as Haseul has returned from her health-related hiatus. This is the first time that LOONA has promoted with all 12 members since the release of “X X” in February 2019.

Yeojin said, “Since Haseul has returned and all the members are here, we will fight the summer heat with our own passionate fire, so we’d be grateful if people looked forward to our promotions.” Choerry said, “We focused on a variety of details in order to showcase a perfect performance. All 12 of us will promote healthily.”

Haseul said, “I did feel nervous while preparing for this comeback. While preparing for the fan meeting and concert, the members helped me get rid of my nerves a lot. I still can’t believe the album is coming out.”

About their new title track, “PTT (Paint the Town),” JinSoul said, “It’s reminiscent of a scene from a Bollywood movie. There are a lot of elements of Indian music and it’s an addictive song that you won’t forget after listening to it for the first time.”

About their new music video, Chuu said, “We tried to express the symbolism of animals for this album’s concept. All of the members are connected in the world of the music video.” Olivia Hye said, “You’ll be able to see a side of us as powerful warriors. It’s a darker image. Also, please look forward to a new level of performance.”

LOONA has seen a global rise to success, with their third mini album “12:00” entering the Billboard 200, topping iTunes charts around the world, and appearing on North American radio charts. Olivia Hye said, “I think that people are drawn to our unique music, and then fall for our members’ individual charms afterward.” JinSoul said, “I think that people liked that our units and the ‘LOONA-verse’ are all connected.”

Heejin shared, “We’ll set the goal to get No. 1 on a public broadcast channel (KBS, MBC, SBS) music show.” Vivi added, “We want to continue to promote without anyone getting sick or hurt. We’re whole with 12 of us, so our safety and health is the most important thing.” Kim Lip said, “It would be great if we could achieve new records on domestic and global charts, but at the moment, I just want to enjoy the music and performance with our fans. I’d like it if our choreography went viral.”

Yves said, “It’s a big dream, but I wonder what it would be like if we could go up just 12 places and achieve No. 100. [Note: LOONA’s ’12:00′ achieved No. 112 on the Billboard 200.] Since there are 12 of us, I think that would be a particularly meaningful accomplishment. If we can, I’d like to get the win on a public broadcast music show.”

Chuu concluded, “We want to surpass the label ‘record-setting girls’ and become a girl group that is central to the global fourth generation.”
