RUN BTS TV On-air Part 2 Review: J-Hope, V, RM and Jimin have the best time entertaining the rest - PINKVILLA

Run BTS returned with a new episode of 'RUN BTS TV On-air' this week and once again left the fans in splits. With members Jungkook, SUGA and Jin taking over the jobs of a live drummer, painter and gaming broadcaster in the last week, the rest of the squad was in action this time.

J-Hope

Being his hope-filled and vibrant self, the BTS member got to business by introducing the various toys at his disposal. J-Hope himself was more surprised at the different types of items available in the market. A peculiar flamingo who would repeat his words caught the attention of the BTS members and they began making fun of it.

V

Kim Taehyung is known to be a fan of golf and is regularly seen practising alongside his friends, members and even pro-golfers. He visits well-known locations to try his hand at the sport and is known to have gotten quite a good game over time. This time, an arcade version of golf with him, V tried out a live broadcast boasting his skills. With a comical expression on his face and multiple gold clubs with different angles and types, he began challenging new levels. His willful ignorance of the other BTS members’ comments was funny to them as well as to the viewers.

RM
Leader RM used his skills in a game of world cup where he chose one of the cutest animals with the help of the other BTS members. He would get two options and would go with the more popular one among the members as well as the one his heart wished for on occasions when there is a tie. In the end, it was a baby fox who was chosen as the winner. In another similar world cup, the battle between two very random options struck it out as the group chose their pick.

Jimin
The last member to display his unique skills was Jimin who began a food broadcast, also known as mukbang. He grabbed some yummy-looking pizza and the others revelled in the delicious food on his table. They asked him to mix various sauces and dip the fried chicken in them. The funniest part of the episode came when Jin grabbed Jimin’s device and began commenting hilariously. A jelly-fried egg later, it was sure that this would be a treat not just for the eyes but for the ears as the BTS member put in an ASMR twist to it, earning shrieks of disgust in return. They all replied with funny-looking photos expressing their fake anger.

‘RUN BTS TV On-air’ has ended, however, there has been more than one reason to note how multi-talented the BTS members are.

How film and TV can help the climate change battle - Deccan Herald

Fictional films and TV have immense power to shift attitudes on political issues, yet they remain little-used in debates over climate change.

Analysing a database of 37,453 film and TV scripts from 2016 to 2020, researchers at the University of Southern California (USC) found that just 1,046 -- 2.8 per cent -- included any keywords related to climate, and only 0.6 per cent mentioned "climate change" specifically.

A similar British study by Albert, a sustainability NGO, found that "cake" was mentioned 10 times more than "climate change" in TV subtitles in 2020.

"The vast majority of films and shows we watch exist in a different reality, where climate change does not exist. This allows viewers to live in a fantasy," said Anna Jane Joyner, founder of Good Energy, a consultancy that helps scriptwriters address the issue.

Also Read: The monsoon is becoming more extreme

Scriptwriters have been keen to address climate change, Joyner said, but felt others would not be interested, or that they would be branded as hypocrites.

"Many writers feel guilty about their own lifestyle -- that unless you're a perfect climate citizen, you can't authentically write about it," said Joyner. "But we need less shaming."

It helps that public concern is rising.

The number of Americans viewing climate change as a major threat jumped from 37 to 55 per cent between 2017 and 2021, despite right-wing denials.

In Britain, it jumped from 37 to 65 per cent.

TV has helped shift political attitudes over the years, especially around race and sexuality, from the first inter-racial kiss on "Star Trek" in the 1960s to the gay stars of 1990s sitcoms "Ellen" and "Will and Grace".

The latter was even cited by then vice-president Joe Biden in his decision to support marriage equality in the United States in 2012.

"People tend to view entertainment as frivolous... and writers who care about climate change might think that audiences will not be receptive," said Erica Rosenthal of USC. "But that is false."

Her work has shown how viewers form "para-social relationships" with characters on-screen, exposing them to new ideas and people.

"Even if climate change only comes up in passing in a show that we love, it subconsciously validates that this concern is normal," said Joyner.

"You need that sense of connection before you get to a place of agency."

However, some mentions are more useful than others, she added.

Two common tropes are the apocalypse -- which is demoralising -- and characters that badger others about their SUV or plastic straws. "Nobody likes a scold," said Joyner.

Simple gestures can help -- characters expressing concern about the climate, using public transport or minimising food waste.

"We see plenty of stories on extreme weather but they are rarely, if ever, linked to climate change... That would be easy," added Rosenthal.

Hollywood has long explored humanity's relationship with nature, dating back to the grand vistas of early Westerns.

"Initially, Westerns were about conquering the land, but very quickly we see that domesticating nature should not mean destroying it," said Veronique Le Bris, who compiled "100 Great Films for the Planet" in France.

Horror over nuclear weapons spurred change after World War II, she added.

As early as 1958, celebrated director Nicholas Ray made "Wind Across the Everglades" about animal conservation.

There have been many examples since, from "Erin Brokovich" to "Wall-E" to "Don't Look Up".

But the current focus on global climate change is tricky for filmmakers, Le Bris said, perhaps because we are all complicit at some level.

"The LGBT debate was fairly neat. Either you're tolerant or not," she said. "But nobody is perfect when it comes to climate."

Matt Hancock: MP finishes third on I'm A Celebrity - BBC

This video can not be played

To play this video you need to enable JavaScript in your browser.

Matt Hancock has finished in third place on ITV reality series I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

The former health secretary was beaten by footballer Jill Scott and Hollyoaks star Owen Warner during Sunday's final.

The MP's participation in the show has been controversial - he had the Tory whip suspended after his involvement was announced.

Asked by Ant and Dec why he took part in the series, Hancock said: "I wanted to show what I'm like as a person."

"Lots of people come to me with pre-conceived ideas for obvious reasons, and I just wanted to be myself," he continued.

"But I also believe that for politicians as a whole, we don't come across as human enough. And this is probably the most extreme way of showing who you are."

He added: "I carry with me expectations, people think they know me, and actually they don't, they know Matt Hancock from the TV and the media.

"I just went in absolutely clear that I was going to be totally myself as if there cameras weren't on and that's what I did. And that is what I'm like in private."

Since last week, the public have been voting to keep their favourite campmates in the jungle, rather than to evict their least favourites.

Hancock took part in 10 Bushtucker trials during his time in the jungle, five of which were the result of a public vote.

During his exit interview, Hancock admitted he was nervous about taking part in the series, and admitted he had expected the tough questions he was asked by other campmates.

"Some of those grillings were really enjoyable and a release, because I could say exactly what I thought, and some were very emotional about some parts of my past that everybody knows about," he said.

"We had really grown-up conversations about it, and there were strong feelings but there wasn't any aggro, they were discussions."

He concluded: "I know it was controversial, me coming in here... but we've all got lots of sides to our personalities."

After his interview, Hancock was seen being reunited with his partner Gina Coladangelo, who he was caught kissing on CCTV in 2021 - events which ultimately led to his resignation as health secretary.

Social distancing guidelines, which Hancock had helped devise, were in place at the time they were pictured kissing. He faced a barrage of criticism when the footage was released by the Sun.

Hancock's participation in the series was criticised by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who said Hancock should not be away from his constituents while Parliament is sitting.

Conservative MP Tim Loughton said he was "disgusted" Hancock had put celebrity ahead of his constituents, adding that losing the Tory whip was "the least he deserves".

The 44-year-old was also criticised by Conservative colleagues and opposition MPs, as well as his local Conservative association who said they were "disappointed" and accused Hancock of a "serious error of judgement".

Soon after the MP's arrival in the camp on 9 November, a banner was flown over it bearing a message from the Covid-19 Bereaved Families for Justice group.

But Hancock, who said he entered the jungle to raise awareness of his dyslexia campaign, survived all the public-voted evictions during his time on the show.

Hancock previously said he would donate some of his fee for taking part in the series - reported to be £400,000 - to a hospice in his constituency and dyslexia charities.

He was beaten to the jungle crown by footballer Scott, who won, and actor Warner, who finished in second place

Asked how she felt to be crowned Queen of the Jungle, Scott joked: "I just can't believe it, I think I'm going to owe my grandma a lot of money for 12 million votes."

She described her fellow campmates as "absolutely incredible".

"We were one big team," she continued. "I don't think there should be one winner, we couldn't have got through it without all of us, I think we've all been winners of I'm A Celebrity."

She likened her experience to playing with England women's football team the Lionesses."There have been so may elements, working together as a team, winning challenges and that feeling of getting to know incredible people."

She added: "Having all those years playing for incredible teams equipped me well for the jungle."

Runner-up Warner said he was "so gassed" about Scott's win. "I think everyone agrees, no-one deserves it more than Jill," he said.

Earlier in Sunday's final, Scott, Hancock and Warner were seen taking part in their last Bushtucker trials, before enjoying their final meal together in camp.

Hancock's trial, Flood Your Face, saw him have his head placed in a tank of water, while wearing a snorkel to breathe, for five minutes. Various critters were added around his face, including eels, yabbies and water spiders.

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! is one of ITV's biggest hits, running for three weeks every November. It has regularly attracted eight million viewers throughout this series.

ITV News presenter Charlene White, A Place In The Sun host Scarlette Douglas, Coronation Street star Sue Cleaver and singer Boy George were among this year's campmates.

Other contestants included comedians Babatunde Aléshé and Seann Walsh, radio DJ Chris Moyles, and former rugby player Mike Tindall.

Spy X Family's 10 Most Wholesome Characters, Ranked - CBR - Comic Book Resources

Spy x Family is a comedy shonen series starring a small but memorable cast of characters who populate a 1960s-style Cold War setting. These are tense times between the nations Westalis and Ostania, which are both on the verge of war, and spies and assassins rule the day.

RELATED: 10 Most Wholesome Komi Can't Communicate Characters, Ranked

Agent Twilight, now calling himself Loid Forger, thinks he has no time for fun and games, but he's wrong. Despite himself, he slowly opened his heart to his new found family, showing his wholesome side. And plenty of other Spy x Family characters have also shown their kind, wholesome sides, proving that happiness and innocence were not lost in the last war.

10/10 Franky Franklin Is Petty, But He Means Well

Franky with wine in Spy x Family.

Loid's WISE ally Franky Franklin is a clever informant who poses as a tobacco shop employee in Berlint. Franky is rather petty at times, envying Loid's handsome looks and Loid's frequent success with women. Franky also reacts poorly to criticism and teasing, even if it's from the innocent Anya Forger.

Franky may be insecure and short-tempered, but he has his good side, too. Franky is one of Loid's few real friends, and that helps them get along better during tense, high-stakes missions. Franky also amuses viewers with his innocent side hobby of inventing niche items for future missions.

9/10 Sylvia Sherwood Quietly Sympathizes With Loid About War

Sylvia Sherwood with her eyes closed in Spy x Family.

Sylvia Sherwood is another of Loid's WISE allies, with her being Loid's sharp-witted handler. Sylvia is all business in Spy x Family, taking her job very seriously while having little patience for nonsense or mistakes on others' part. She is also skilled at intimidation and interrogation.

Sylvia is a stone-cold kuudere who has her kind, wholesome side, though she keeps it hidden. Sylvia lost her young daughter in the last war, and that's why she sympathizes with Loid, a war orphan. She won't shed any tears or hug Loid about it, but her kindness still shines in her heart.

8/10 Damian Desmond Secretly Wants Anya To Be His Friend

Damian in Spy x Family.

The young tsundere Damian Desmond acts like a jerk at school, but that's just a defense mechanism to hide his insecurities and cope with the immense pressure that everyone has put on him. Damian is Donovan Desmond's second son, and Damian fears that his father will never acknowledge him.

RELATED: 10 Most Wholesome Anime Villains, Ranked

Damian isn't very nice to his classmate, Anya, but that's not the true Damian. Deep down, Damian just wants friends and acceptance, and he overcomes his own tsundere ways to get along with Anya from time to time. Dodgeball and art projects are examples of when they actually made a good team.

7/10 Yuri Briar Must Defend His Sister At All Costs

Yuri Briar from Spy x Family.

Yuri Briar is Yor's overprotective younger brother, and he will quickly suspect or antagonize any man who gets too close to her. Yuri also works for the feared SSS, meaning he can easily get dirt on anyone who pesters Yor and make that person disappear.

Yuri is a scary secret police agent in Berlint who takes that job seriously, but he's not a monster. Yuri dearly loves his big sister and simply wants what's best for her, even if he's not the best uncle or brother-in-law. He also wishes to protect all of Ostania from outside threats, which is a noble goal.

6/10 Henry Henderson Takes Pride In Every Student's Accomplishments

Henry Henderson from Spy x Family.

Headmaster Henry Henderson acts strict and demanding as Eden Academy's esteemed leader and has refined taste in art and elegance. He may seem pretentious, but Henry is a selfless person who simply wants every last Eden student to succeed in the classroom until the day they graduate.

RELATED: 10 Most Wholesome Anime Heroes, Ranked

In that way, Henry is every Eden student's protective grandfather, and nothing makes him happier than a student's display of academic brilliance and elegance. He will also confront any staff member who needlessly and inelegantly antagonizes prospective students and their parents.

5/10 Becky Blackbell Protects Anya & Nurses An Innocent Crush

Becky Blackbell from Spy x Family.

Anya's classmate, Becky Blackbell, is a mild tsundere who knows the value of true friendship. She may have been born into wealth, but Becky understands that wealth of the heart is most important, thus her wholesome, inspiring friendship with Anya Forger.

Becky is a bit haughty and is quick to criticize others, but she also feels protective of Anya, most of all where Damian Desmond is concerned. Becky is also a true romantic who believes in the power of true love. She even has an innocent crush on Anya's foster father, Loid.

4/10 Loid Forger Can't Help Loving His New Family

Spy x Family's Loid Forger and Anya.

The aloof Loid Forger intended to close off his heart so he wouldn't have to get hurt again. He lost everything in the last war, and now he's afraid to get too close to anyone and suffer once again. Operation Strix led him in a different direction, setting him up with a loving foster family to spend time with.

RELATED: 10 Wholesome Anime Characters We Want to Be Friends With

Now Loid can show his wholesome side, even if he's overbearing and puts the mission first. Loid can't help loving Anya and Yor as his new family, and like Yor, he will fly into a defensive rage if anyone threatens or upsets Anya. After everything he's been through, Loid has earned a little love and happiness.

3/10 Anya Forger Must Protect World Peace & Make Her Parents Proud

Anya Forger in Spy x Family.

The beloved pink-haired Anya Forger is iconic in the series, and she has more than unusual telepathic powers or funny faces on her side. Spy x Family fans adore Anya Forger because she is a brave, creative, and optimistic kid who is determined to save the day and make everyone happy.

Anya can sometimes be petty and selfish due to her youth and iffy upbringing. Still, she's a wholesome, wonderful person inside and out, and fans know it. Anya believes in hope, friendship, and the sheer coolness of being a spy, motivating her to accomplish wonderful things to make her foster parents proud.

2/10 Bond Is A Spy's Best Friend

Anya and Bond in Spy x Family.

Bond is Spy x Family's best and only non-human character, an intelligent dog with the ability to see the near future in perfect detail. Bond suffered when he was used as a tool for terrorism, but then Anya helped him break free, and the unlikely duo saved the day from a bombing attack.

Bond is now the Forger family pet, and he couldn't be happier. Bond is a protective, kind, and loyal canine who is immensely grateful for this second chance at life. He won't hesitate to leap into trouble if it means protecting his best friend, Anya, even if it just means retrieving her lost gloves in the park.

1/10 Yor Forger Is Spy X Family's Best Girl

Yor in Spy x Family.

The lovely Yor Forger is Anya's foster mother and assassin-style protector. That, combined with her wholesome personality and good looks, makes her Spy x Family's Best Girl and one of anime's most popular characters in recent years. She is also charmingly goofy and clumsy, despite being a trained killer.

Yor may take lives by night, but she's an enthusiastic foster parent during the day, and little Anya means everything to her. Yor is also quick to comfort her little brother and new husband anytime they need her, even if her solutions are sometimes worse than the problem.

Slipknot officially cancel their postponed Manila concert - NME

Slipknot have officially cancelled their long-anticipated Manila concert following multiple postponements.

Organisers PULP Live World have announced that the concert, which was first set to take place in 2020, will no longer be rescheduled, and have offered ticketholders the option or refund their tickets. Ticketholders can opt to exchange their tickets for tickets to either Nightwish or Lacuna Coil’s upcoming Manila concerts, and will receive additional value for their Slipknot ticket through an extra ticket if they also choose to upgrade their ticket tier.

Those seeking refunds can do so physically, via an authorised agent, or by contacting the organisers with the e-ticket, valid identification, the last four digits of the card used for the purchase, and their contact details at the info@ticketnet.com.ph email.

Slipknot were scheduled to tour Southeast Asia in April 2020 but had to cancel the run due to Coronavirus pandemic. They were slated to perform two shows in Tokyo and one in Singapore, Manila and Jakarta respectively.

The organiser had previously shared that they were planning for the concert to be rescheduled and had named the Amoranto Stadium in Manila as a venue. Slipknot are due to return to the Southeast Asian region in March 2023 for a much-delayed edition of Indonesia’s Hammersonic Festival before heading to Japan for Knotfest Japan in April, which will be held at the Makuhari Messe International Exhibition Hall in Chiba.

The masked group released their seventh album ‘The End, So Far’ on September 30. The record is the group’s final record with longtime label Roadrunner after first signing with them in 1998, and features their 2021 single ‘The Chapeltown Rag’.

Drummer Jay Weinberg recently opened up about his experiences of hearing loss, describing the morning after a jam session where he found his hearing impaired. “We had a great day jamming, but then the next morning I had no high-end frequencies in my hearing,” he recalled in the public service announcement for the Hearing Health Foundation. “I thought I honestly lost my hearing altogether, and I was really frightened ’cause I didn’t know how to deal with that.”

Travel news: Animal encounters, 2023 vacation inspiration and the world's most expensive restaurant - CNN

(CNN) — The world's population hit eight billion this week, and sometimes it can feel like they're all packed on the same flight as you.

Here are the rest of the biggest travel stories right now.

Wild world

A video has gone viral of a baby elephant tickling Kenyan news reporter Alvin Kaunda until he collapses in giggles.
The sweet interaction was filmed at the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust's elephant orphanage in Nairobi, which offers sanctuary to elephants, rhinos and giraffes. Watch this CNN Travel video to find out more about how they get baby pachyderms back on their feet.
A Montana TV reporter became a meme back in 2020 after he posted a video of his reaction to an approaching herd of bison at Yellowstone National Park. The mighty beasts were out of shot but Deion Broxton's darting eyes and muttered, "Oh no, I ain't messing with you" told the story.
Yellowstone tweeted afterward that his swift exit was a perfect example of what to do when approached by wildlife. See this video from October 2022 of a hiker who had a lucky escape when she got too close to some bison in Texas.

Destination Inspiration

Guidebook company Lonely Planet has revealed its top destinations for 2023, with the Ghanian capital of Accra and the Central American country of El Salvador among those making the cut. The night train between Istanbul and Sofia also got a nod.
If you'd like to explore Turkey beyond the capital, the Aegean coastline has plenty to offer. We recommend Alacati, known locally as "Heaven on Earth," and the island paradise of Bozcaada. And don't forget to sample some local wine.
The marine wonders of Indonesia's Raja Ampat -- featured in this newsletter two weeks ago -- also made Lonely Planet's list. If you're looking to extend your island-hopping, try a luxury train journey through Java. The five-star Amanjiwo resort offers a plush seven-hour trip from Jakarta to Borobudur, the world's largest Buddhist temple.

Food and hospitality

Sublimotion is known for its long waiting list, but in Japan a brand of frozen Kobe beef croquette is so popular there's a 30-year waitlist to get your hands on a box. Best wait a couple of decades before you put the oven on to pre-heat.
And finally, the world's swishest hospitality interiors have been recognized in the 2022 Dezeen Awards.
Kelly Wearstler's Mexican folk-art inspired design for Downtown LA Proper Hotel was named Hotel and Short-Stay Interior of the Year and the calm mint-green hues and recycled wooden chairs of Copenhagen's Connie-Connie art gallery cafe won Restaurant and Bar Interior of the Year.

Second-time lucky

An American woman and an Australian man had a whirlwind romance in the 1980s, before going on to marry other people. Twenty-three years later they reconnected and this time they were determined to not let love slip away.

Misbehaving travelers of the week

A Frontier Airlines flight was forced to make an emergency landing in Atlanta on November 11 after a passenger was found with box cutters. Then two days later an unruly passenger was removed from a United Airlines flight in Chicago after an on-board incident that sent three people to the hospital. Be sure to smile and thank your flight attendant on your next trip: They may have had a rough week.

In case you missed it

What do hotel star ratings actually mean?

A cruise ship with 800 Covid-positive passengers docked in Sydney on November 12.

A refugee who inspired "The Terminal" died this month, after spending 18 years inside a Paris airport.

The "most magical place on Earth" is getting more expensive.

Travel gifts

Quentin Tarantino Reveals Plans to Shoot an Eight-Episode TV Series Next Year - Variety

Quentin Tarantino has disclosed that he has plans to step back into television, looking to shoot an eight-episode series in 2023. The film director shared news of the project Wednesday night while promoting his new book, “Cinema Speculation,” at a New York event hosted by Elvis Mitchell.

The filmmaker wasn’t forthright with narrative or production details around the project. Tarantino has worked in television before, directing two episodes of “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” in 2005. Since then he has flirted with venturing back, with reports emerging in February that the director was in talks to helm installments of FX’s “Justified” revival.

The N.Y. conversation covered a lot of ground, with Tarantino touching on other projects he’s circled over the years. The writer-director shared that he wrote a play before “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” was completed. He also stated that he was approached to do a rewrite of Samuel L. Jackson’s 2000 “Shaft” reboot but rejected the offer.

Asked which comic book he would adapt if given the choice, Tarantino stated that he would be interested in bringing Marvel’s “Sgt. Fury and His Howling Commandos” to the screen. “Sgt. Fury” follows Nick Fury, portrayed by Samuel L. Jackson in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the escapades of the eponymous World War II unit, which appeared in 2011’s “Captain America: The First Avenger.”

Whether Tarantino proceeds with the television series remains somewhat of an uncertainty. In recent years, the director circled producing and possibly directing a “Star Trek” entry after making a pitch to J.J. Abrams, though he later shared that he was “steering away” from the project.

“Cinema Speculation,” Tarantino’s new collection of essays on films that were formative for him, is now available to purchase.

Taylor Swift Ticketmaster crash draws ire on Capitol Hill - BBC

Tickets for Taylor Swift's next US concert tour have not even gone on sale to the general public - but already many fans hoping to see her live have been disappointed.

Mum Nancy Abulmagd spent hours in a virtual queue, behind thousands of other people, trying to score seats for her 11-year-old daughter and friends, only to have the website crash repeatedly and eventually turn her away empty-handed.

And Nancy was one of the lucky ones - she had won a lottery that allowed "verified fans" to participate in a pre-sale four days before the purchases open to everyone.

"I got so close three or four times and the website broke. It was agonising," the 41-year-old, who lives in New Jersey, said. "The experience was really deflating. It messed with your emotions and sucked up your whole day."

Ticketmaster, the company selling the tickets, has said the problems are down to "historically unprecedented demand" for the singer, who first burst on the scene in 2006 and has supplied a steady stream of hits exploring fame and romantic entanglements.

Her latest album, Midnights, has topped charts around the world.

Millions of Swifties, as her fans are known, vied for tickets for her 52-city US tour in the pre-sale and hundreds of thousands secured seats, Ticketmaster said.

The company says the pre-sale system is intended to help prevent ticket touts - known as scalpers in the US - and bots from scooping up seats.

But the glitches in the process have reignited anger at the firm, which has long faced complaints that it abuses its power over the industry.

In an episode earlier this year, comedian John Oliver described it as "one of the most hated companies on earth" - blaming it for the high prices, exorbitant fees and scarce availability that confront those hoping to attend concerts and other events.

"You're kind of at their mercy," said Nancy, adding that the company could have better organised the sales given that such high demand for Taylor Swift tickets was foreseeable.

Pearl Jam aired concerns about Ticketmaster's role as the major ticket seller back in the 1990s.

The company's power has only grown since then. In 2010, it purchased Live Nation, which runs many of the country's event venues and has an artist management business.

US Democratic lawmakers, who have called for that merger to be reversed, chimed in again amid the chaos of the Taylor Swift pre-sale.

"Ticketmaster's excessive wait times and fees are completely unacceptable, as seen with today's @taylorswift13 tickets, and are a symptom of a larger problem," wrote congressman David Cicilline, who oversees the House committee on competition and anti-trust. "It's no secret that Live Nation-Ticketmaster is an unchecked monopoly."

"Daily reminder that Ticketmaster is a monopoly, its merger with LiveNation should never have been approved, and they need to be reigned [sic] in," wrote left-wing congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. "Break them up."

The Department of Justice did not respond to a request for comment on the Taylor Swift affair on Wednesday.

Ticketmaster is already subject to government monitoring, oversight that was imposed when the LiveNation purchase was approved.

The oversight was extended a few years ago after regulators found the firm had violated the terms of the agreement.

And last month, US President Joe Biden - who has expressed concern that monopolies have become more common across the economy - said his administration would look into fees on concert tickets.

Krista Brown, senior policy analyst at the American Economic Liberties Project, is part of a coalition of artists and others who launched a campaign last month calling on the government to break up Ticketmaster.

She said she was hopeful that the outrage from Taylor Swift's massive fan base would raise pressure on the administration to act.

"If there was healthy competition in this space, [these problems] just wouldn't be present and customers or fans would have other services to turn to," she said. "You probably wouldn't have sites crashing... When you have one supplier this is what happens."

But whether that will be any consolation to fans hoping for a glimpse of Taylor Swift in concert is another question.

Before the general public can try again, the company is opening purchases up to people who carry credit cards from the company sponsoring the Taylor Swift tour, Capital One.

Ticketmaster did not respond to a request for comment from the BBC, asking how many tickets were expected to be available.

Swift, who has added 25 shows to her tour in response to the huge demand and has sometimes picked fights with corporate behemoths, has so far been quiet on the matter.

As for Nancy, she said she plans to try again as part of the general public on Friday. But she's not holding out much hope.
