A woman who spends her life helping others find their voice finally got up the courage to take the stage and let her own voice be heard. The outcome? Lachuné Boyd wowed the judges on America’s Got Talent during her audition on Season 18.
How to Watch
Watch AGT Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.
“You have a beautiful, beautiful voice,” Judge Simon Cowell, who is famously difficult to impress, said by the end of her song. “And I’m really fascinated by it.”
Who is Lachuné?
The 31-year-old describes herself as a storyteller, vocal coach and folkie-songster on her Facebook page, where she has nearly two-thousand followers. She told AGT host Terry Crews she grew up in the low country of South Carolina.
“Small town life,” she said. “The closest Walmart is like 45 minutes away — so that type of small town. So, coming here and seeing that stage is definitely surreal.”
While born and raised in South Carolina, she shared that she’s been living in Fort Worth, Texas for the last four years, where she is a voice teacher and student. The Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, where she’s a student, posted about her audition on its Facebook page.
“I grew up in a singing family,” Lachuné revealed to the judges before her audition. “I spent most of my years observing them do it. I just never pictured myself actually having the moment to be on stage. So that held me back. But I started teaching because I learned that if I can’t do the thing, try to work close to it. So that kept the spark alive.”
On her website, Lachuné said she first “found the love of music in the pews of a traditional African American church.” That led her to teaching.
“I am here because I’m taking my own advice,” she told the judges. “As a teacher, you’re always sitting on the opposite side of the piano, and you’re always pouring into them and saying, ‘yay!’, you know, ‘take the initiative, don’t get too comfortable, go for it, be yourself.’ And after a while I started getting a little conflicted about it. Because I was like, well am I doing the same thing? So today it’s about coming out here, taking initiative, and being along with my students.”
Whatsong sid Lachuné sing for her AGT audition?
Lachuné chose to perform Coldplay’s hit song “Yellow” for her moving and powerful audition. Cowell called it “fantastic,” but also had some advice for the singer.
“Now you gotta work out, ‘what is my lane?’” Cowell said. “Because you want to be a brilliant singer in a specific area, I believe. So that’s what you gotta work out.”
The judges and audience were all cheering by the end of the performance.
“I love this audition too,” Judge Sofia Vergara said. “It was perfect. I wanted to keep listening to you. I loved it.”
The judges were thrilled Lachuné took the leap from teaching to performing.
“I’m very happy that you put yourself first,” Judge Heidi Klum said. “And that you came today. And you showed us who you are. I have a feeling that you just scratched the surface of what you can do.”
As she wiped away tears, Lachuné received four yesses from the judges.
“You showed us that these walls people feel like they’re stuck behind, you make them yourself,” judge Howie Mandel said. “You tore down that wall, and luckily you did, because you made your way right here and your life is about to change.”
Watch more of Lachuné’s journey during America’s Got Talent, airing Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC and the next day on Peacock.

“This place was huge in the ’80s with the kids. They shut it down years ago. The owner’s just not ready to let it go yet,” Lillard’s character forewarns in the trailer.
After arriving at his rundown new job, complete with dirty fixtures, dust-painted walls and alarming ghosts of old arcade games, Mike quickly learns that the job entails more than just guarding over the formerly working animatronics. The once fun and jolly characters begin to come alive, murdering anyone in the building after midnight, leaving Mike and his little sister in uncertain peril.
Universal Pictures brought the film to life with Blumhouse Productions, in association with Striker Entertainment. Jason Blum’s production company is also behind other popular horror films, including M3GAN and Get Out.

A persistent stick figure from Alan Becker‘s animated series “Animator vs.“ gets lost inside the complex world of mathematics. At first, the problems are simple, but as they get more challenging, the stick figure gets completely overwhelmed and even, at times, has to go on the defensive. After almost drowning in numbers, the figure finally looks for an out.
How much of this math do you know?
Becker and artist DJ Welch spoke about the video and the series in a subsequent video. Becker gave full credit to his lead animator Terkoiz for coming up with the idea.
My lead animator came up with the whole story for this because he’s a big math nerd…..I’m a fake one.

K-Pop idols continually gain attention for their incredibly aesthetic airport fashion. BLACKPINK, for instance, are continually impressing fans with their fashion sense.
But in a recent vlog about BLACKPINK’s BORNPINK world tour and their Coachella performance in the middle of the tour, Jennie exposed the reality of idol’s airport fashion.
At the start of her vlog, Jennie showed fans that BLACKPINK was traveling to Las Vegas for Coachella.
And she joked about how her manager chose to hand her the camera to film her vlog after she had changed outfits.
Jennie made headlines on April 2, 2023, for her fashionable airport outfit and insane duality.
But in her vlog, Jennie shared that she changed outfits to be in “flight mode,” understandably wanting to be as comfortable as possible for the long flight. Which is why the outfit in her vlog differed from what fans had previously seen.
She even planned to take off her makeup to ensure she was taking care of her skin “once the flight takes off…”
And while Jennie might have felt that it was “a pity” to show a more comfortable side of herself on the flight after having “put in a lot of effort…”
Anyone who has traveled on a plane can understand her desire to prioritize comfort.
YouTube saw the rise and fall of several creators. Creators began establishing their brand of content decades ago, with skit comedy being among the most popular genre. Following Smosh’s popularity with their niche of skit comedy, fans found out the channel was sold to a media company back in 2011. The original creators of Smosh, however, made a surprise return to the scene, taking back the reigns of their channel.
Ian Hecox and Anthony Padilla announced a surprise comeback to Smosh after the duo bought the brand from Mythical, the owners of the channel!
Smosh bought back by the original duo

Smosh became popular because of its skit comedy. Behind the videos, there was the mind of two people, trying to make each other laugh. In the process, they made millions of people laugh and fall in love with their content. However, an offer came across the duo from Defy Media, one that sought to buy the channel. While this would not take away from who wrote the skits and performed them, it essentially changed ownership and brought more funding in. It allowed creators to expand their production scale.
The issue rose in 2017 when due to creative differences and loss of creative inspiration, Padilla branched out. He created his channel and uploaded videos there. Ian, on the other hand, continued to be a part of Smosh. During this time, Defy Media fell on hard times, and to save the channel, Mythical Entertainment bought it.

The two decided to buy the channel back from its current parent organization Mythical Entertainment after they met a year ago. They realized much had changed since they last worked together. Padilla said, “When we reconnected, we both had done a lot of growing.”
We sold Smosh.
Ian & Anthony, the original founders of Smosh, have reunited and bought back the wildly popular brand they founded 18 years ago! We are extremely proud of everything we and Ian accomplished during our time working together, and will continue to be fans and… pic.twitter.com/TbAnEsVA2X
In the video announcing the comeback, the duo said, “So flash forward to last year, Ian and I started hanging out a ton. And we realized that the sketches that we’d made weren’t just great because they were products of the times, I wasn’t just being blinded by the nostalgia when I’d go back to get a laugh at the old videos, they were a reflection of the magic that we felt when we were making something together. So we came up with the totally insane idea of what if we bought Smosh?”
The two did not know if buying Smosh was possible. As a result, they deliberated for a little while, followed by negotiations about the purchase taking place over a few months. The result of this was Smosh is now owned by its original creators.

What does this mean for their channel content?
While the two did not reveal the entirety of their plans for their channel, they revealed some information. It will be a return to the classic sketch comedy Padilla and Hecox wrote when the channel started initially. Moreover, as for their other channels such as Smosh Pit and Smosh Games, the duo revealed they will be remaining the same.
Fans of the channel when it first started posting content were jubilant. This marked the return of Padilla and Hecox working together after years. The last time the two worked together was back in 2017. With the change in ownership, fans remain eager to see a return to the channel’s old days of comedy!

Hollywood film director James Cameron, who directed the 1997 movie Titanic, has told the BBC the team who built the submersible which imploded with the loss of five lives had "cut corners".
OceanGate, the parent company of the Titan sub, "didn't get certified because they knew they wouldn't pass".
"I was very suspect of the technology that they were using. I wouldn't have gotten in that sub," he said.
Cameron has completed 33 submersible dives to the Titanic wreck.
Titan was built from carbon fibre and titanium.
In 2012 Cameron used a different technology for the Deepsea Challenger submersible expedition in the Pacific, which took him down to 10,912m (35,800ft), the deepest known oceanic trench.
The Titanic wreck is 3,810m (12,500ft) down.
Cameron said that when he learned the sub had lost both its navigation and communication at the same time he immediately suspected a disaster.
"I felt in my bones what had happened. For the sub's electronics to fail and its communication system to fail, and its tracking transponder to fail simultaneously - sub's gone."
He said that on Monday, when he heard the sub had gone missing, "I immediately got on the phone to some of my contacts in the deep submersible community.
"Within about an hour I had the following facts. They were on descent. They were at 3,500 metres (11,483ft), heading for the bottom at 3,800 metres.
"Their comms were lost, and navigation was lost - and I said instantly, you can't lose comms and navigation together without an extreme catastrophic event or high, highly energetic catastrophic event. And the first thing that popped to mind was an implosion."
On Thursday, an official from the US Navy told the BBC's partner CBS News that the navy had detected "an acoustic anomaly consistent with an implosion" shortly after the Titan lost contact with the surface.
The official said the information had been relayed to the US Coast Guard team, which used it to narrow the radius of the search area.
Cameron suggested that there was a "terrible irony" in the loss of Titan and its crew, likening it to the loss of the Titanic itself back in 1912.
"We now have another wreck that is based on unfortunately the same principles of not heeding warnings," he said. "OceanGate were warned."
Cameron said that some within the deep submergence community, not including himself directly, had written a letter to OceanGate saying they believed, in his words, "you are going on a path to catastrophe".
A letter sent to OceanGate by the Marine Technology Society (MTS) in March 2018 and obtained by the New York Times stated "the current 'experimental' approach adopted by OceanGate... could result in negative outcomes (from minor to catastrophic)".
Separately, US court documents show a former employee of OceanGate warned of potential safety problems with the vessel as far back as 2018.
The documents show that David Lochridge, the company's director of marine operations, raised concerns in an inspection report.
But the co-founder of OceanGate insisted however that Titan had undergone rigorous testing.
Guillermo Sohnlein, who left the company 10 years ago, told the BBC that the 14-year development programme had been "very robust".
"Any expert who weighs in on this, including Mr Cameron, will also admit that they were not there for the design of the sub, for the engineering of the sub, the building of the sub and certainly not for the rigorous test programme that the sub went through."
The Titan sub was not certified, but then this is not mandatory.
In a blog post about it in 2019, the company said the way that Titan had been designed fell outside the accepted system - but it "does not mean that OceanGate does not meet standards where they apply".
It added that the classification agencies "slowed down innovation… bringing an outside entity up to speed on every innovation before it is put into real-world testing is anathema to rapid innovation".
Cameron told BBC News the past week had "felt like a prolonged and nightmarish charade where people are running around talking about banging noises and talking about oxygen and all this other stuff".
"I knew that sub was sitting exactly underneath its last known depth and position. That's exactly where they found it," he continued.
He said anyone venturing to the Titanic wreck should be fully aware of the risks, as "it's a very dangerous site".
"Agree to those risks, but don't be in a situation where you haven't been told about the risks of the actual platform that you're diving in there.
"In the 21st Century, there shouldn't be any risks. We've managed to make it through 60 years, from 1960 until today, 63 years without a fatality... So, you know, one of the saddest aspects of this is how preventable it really was."

Lee Jang Woo and Jo Hye Won are in a relationship!
On June 22, industry representatives reported that Lee Jang Woo is in a relationship with Jo Hye Won.
In response to the report, Lee Jang Woo’s agency Hunus Entertainment released the following statement:
Hello. This is actor Lee Jang Woo’s agency Hunus Entertainment.
We are informing you regarding today’s report of actor Lee Jang Woo’s dating rumors.
As known through the report, the two met while working on a drama together, and while spending time together as close senior and junior [actors in the industry], the two developed into a couple and are continuing a beautiful relationship.
Please watch over the two with warmth and support as they grow their deep trust and love for one another.
Thank you.
Jo Hye Won’s agency SWMP also released a similar statement, confirming their relationship.
The two actors met through the 2019 drama “My Only One,” which Lee Jang Woo starred in as the lead. Jo Hye Won appeared as a care worker.
Born in 1986, Lee Jang Woo debuted through the 2006 MBC drama “90 Days, Time to Love.” Since then, he starred in numerous dramas including “Three Brothers,” “Smile Again,” “The Heavenly Idol,” and more. He is currently a fixed cast member on the variety show “Home Alone.”
Jo Hye Won is an actress born in 1994 who debuted through the 2016 film “Hide and Never Seek.” She recently starred in “Awaken” as well as “Military Prosecutor Doberman.”
Girls’ Generation‘s Taeyeon has seemingly hinted at being displeased with her upcoming concert in Jakarta, allegedly due to the venue’s limited seating capacity.
On June 21, the “INVU” singer shared the concert’s poster, which says in bold letters at the top “Taeyeon Concert in Jakarta.” She retweeted two Instagram Stories from her official SM Entertainment page. In the first, she added a thinking face emoji.
She explained her feelings further in the second post where she wrote, “Ms. ‘Taeyeon Concert in Jakarta’ doesn’t know what she’s talking about 😏.”
Fans are speculating that the solo artist is throwing shade at the limited seat capacity in the venue. The concert will be held at Hall 5 in the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE), and it only holds 5,000 people.
This is significantly lower than the typical attendance at Taeyeon’s concerts, where it’s common for her to sell over 10,000 tickets. Furthermore, the venues in the other confirmed locations worldwide have seating capacities two to three times larger than ICE.
[NEW] TAEYEON – The ODD Of LOVE (Asia Tour)
2-day concert in Bangkok has been confirmed! 💜
Confirmed:
– Seoul 🇰🇷 (Completed ✅)
Date: June 3-4
Venue: KSPO Dome
Capacity: 15,000
– Hong Kong 🇭🇰 (Completed ✅)
Date: June 10
Venue: AsiaWorld–Arena
Capacity: 14,000
Others noted that the demand for Taeyeon’s concerts is enormous as she sells out her tickets with ease, which is why they find it confusing that a 5,000-person concert hall was even approved. Fans reminded each other to support her because she is standing up for herself and them.
oddie con
> seoul = 18k (sold out from presale alone)
> hong kong = sold out 13k but SM announced it was only 9k
> taiwan = sold out with over 100k in queue
> tokyo – sold out 20k
yet sm think a 5k venue is enough 🤦♀️
now TAEYEON HERSELF is complaining with us. absurd 🤕
if Taeyeon gets a bigger venue for the Jakarta stop, go all out WITH her. Because what she is doing right now is standing up for herself and fans.
we all are in this together, reminder to DM the promoter and call out SM too while at it.
