How WandaVision's Nexus Commercial Links To Loki | Screen Rant - Screen Rant

Warning: SPOILERS ahead for WandaVision episode 7!

WandaVision episode 7 features yet another commercial, but this specific advertisement could be a clever connection to the upcoming Loki series on Disney+. The latest installment, titled "Breaking the Fourth Wall," follows Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) after extending the Hex's boundaries around Westview. With the town under her spell, Wanda is finding it harder to stay in control. This will become more difficult now that Agnes (Kathryn Hahn) revealed herself to be the sinister witch known as Agatha Harkness.

To play into Wanda's sitcom world, the Disney+ series features a commercial break with disturbing undertones during each episode. In "Breaking the Fourth Wall," the TV advertisement presents a new antidepressant called "Nexus." The capsule in focus is marketed as "a unique antidepressant that works to anchor you back to your reality - or the reality of your choice." To follow the format of typical commercials for medications, the commercial then unveils potential side effects, including "possibly more depression." Based on her recent feelings of distress, WandaVision is clearly presenting Wanda as a candidate for Nexus.

The name of the antidepressant may also be significant by connecting to the existence of "Nexus Beings." Marvel Comics once described Nexus Beings as rare individuals with powers to affect probabilities and, essentially, the future. Nexus Beings are keys to the Multiverse, which Olsen hinted at Scarlet Witch as being in a 2013 interview. With that said, the Nexus medication commercial may additionally link to the MCU's "God of Mischief" and his upcoming solo series. Tom Hiddleston is reprising his role as Loki for a show following the character's whereabouts following the events of Avengers: Endgame. Loki will also heavily feature the Time Variance Authority (TVA), who has a long history with Nexus Beings.

What Nexus Beings Mean For The Loki Series

Loki and Mobius TVA (1)

The TVA is a mysterious organization that made its Marvel Comics debut in 1986. The bureaucratic group monitors the Multiverse to ensure timelines aren't being altered in any way. If the past or present is being changed, the TVA takes action, which is why they set their sights on Loki after he acquires the Tesseract. Historically, the TVA has had many run-ins with Nexus Beings, as has another group referred to as the Time-Keepers. The rare group of Nexus Beings, including Scarlet Witch, has been known to be monitored by the TVA due to their capabilities.

There's always a chance the TVA will show up in WandaVision as a way to set up their presence in Loki. With Wanda and Agatha's potential of affecting the past or present by altering reality as Nexus Beings, the TVA could show up to shut them down if S.W.O.R.D. fails to do so. On the other hand, the Nexus antidepressant commercial could be a nod to the Nexus of All Realities, a cross-dimensional gateway that allows a traveler to reach any and all realities. Loki has been known to use similar kinds of portals in the MCU, and a similar gateway may be integral to his time-traveling in the forthcoming series. Either way, the mention of Nexus seems like more than a coincidence.
