Jessica Simpson says she won't be watching the heartbreaking The New York Times Presents: Framing Britney Spears documentary because she "lived it."
The singer appeared on the Tamron Hall Show where she was asked if she watched the revealing documentary, which chronicles Spears' life as a pop star, the hounding of the star by the paparazzi, and her father's control over her business and personal life.
The documentary hit too close to home for Simpson, who was also a young pop star and did not have control over her music and other aspects of her career, made cultivate an image by her label.
The now 40-year-old singer shared that she could not watch the doc, stating, "Ah, no. It's one of those things that if I were to watch it, reliving that for me, it's one of those triggers. It definitely gives me anxiety. And I lived it."
During an interview with People, Simpson shared how watching the documentary was only going to "bring back any of the dark pieces of my personal coming of age in the music business," adding, "I have worked through a lot and want to keep moving forward in my own story on my own path."
Simpson also added that she personally knows Spears, "I know Britney and I know what she went through. It's so hard because it's so many people's opinions on you just trying to live your life as a normal human being. Because inside we're really just normal."
She also made sure to note that she truly supports Spears and is happy her fans are supporting her too.
"I admire [Spears's] ambition, strength, and the capability to live unapologetically and authentically," she added.
