Like those who have closely followed the background and details on the Snyder Cut certainly will already know, Justice League it was supposed to represent only the central chapter of a five-part saga originally intended by Zack Snyder.
Started with Man of Steel and continued with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, this saga developed by the director and renamed in recent days as 'Snyder-Verse', would be continued in Justice League 2 e Justice League 3, films that would have respectively explored in detail the post-apocalyptic future 'Knightmare' and solved the stories of Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne, also presenting a new Batman.
This new Dark Knight would be the son of Clark and Lois Lane, who is pregnant in the Snyder Cut: Not many noticed it while watching the film, but Snyder reiterated it during a recent interview with Esquire.
"Lois is definitely pregnant"said the director, also talking about how Batgirl would play a role in raising Superman's son as the new Batman. "I always wanted to introduce Barbara Gordon into the movies. Commissioner Gordon would leave the scene and his daughter Barbara would start playing a bigger role. My idea was that after Bruce's final sacrifice in Justice 3, for several years Gotham would be left without Batman and Barbara would have filled that void until the arrival of the son of Superman and Lois: the boy has no powers and becomes Batman when he comes of age ". He added: "That was the idea, anyway. It seemed to make sense. At that point, of course, Barbara would become the boy's mentor, but who knows? Now we're in the field of desires."
Furthermore, Snyder stated that Justice League 3 it would have been an ideal sequel to Man of Steel:
"The final movie was going to be a Superman movie. Clark would have the most central part of all in Justice League 3, because with Batman dead it would be up to Clark to become the de facto leader. Wonder Woman would be made queen of Themyscira and lead the warriors of into battle against Darkseid, and Arthur would lead Atlantis. Superman, basically, would become the leader of the Justice League and the leader of the armies of men"added Snyder."Justice League 3 would have been like a Man of Steel 2 because Superman would have had the most important story arc, from villain he would become the main hero. And I liked the idea a lot because, traditionally, it is one of those characters that the public never sees change much. It's always good, historically, and then I thought: 'How cool and interesting it would be to take our Superman and make him go on this incredible journey between evil and good.".
The director recently opened on the arrival of a Justice League sequel, but the final decision will rest with Warner Bros.
