Prince William and Kate Middleton Paid Tribute to "Devoted" Prince Philip Shortly After His Funeral - HarpersBAZAAR.com

Prince William and Kate Middleton are continuing to honor the memory of Prince Philip.

Shortly after the Duke of Edinburgh's funeral this weekend, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge called attention to his life devotion to his wife of 73 years, Queen Elizabeth II.

"The Duke of Edinburgh was a devoted consort to Her Majesty The Queen for nearly 70 years, from Her Majesty’s Accession in 1952 until his death," the couple tweeted from the official Kensington Royal Twitter account, along with two pictures from Prince Philip's funeral service.

In one of the photos, Prince William and Kate Middleton can be seen standing behind the Duke of Edinburgh's coffin, while the other shows William walking in the funeral procession into St. George's Chapel in Windsor Castle alongside his younger brother, Prince Harry, and other members of the royal family.

On Instagram, the Cambridges shared a slightly longer version of the message. In the caption of a post containing the same two pictures shared on Twitter, along with two additional pictures from the funeral service, the couple wrote:

"The Duke of Edinburgh was a devoted consort to Her Majesty The Queen for nearly 70 years, from Her Majesty’s Accession in 1952 until his death.

Today’s ceremony was a reflection of The Duke’s military affiliations and personal elements of His Royal Highness’s life."

"My grandfather’s century of life was defined by service – to his country and Commonwealth, to his wife and Queen, and to our family," William wrote in personal message that the couple shared along with a photo of William and their oldest child, Prince George. "I feel lucky to have not just had his example to guide me, but his enduring presence well into my own adult life – both through good times and the hardest days. I will always be grateful that my wife had so many years to get to know my grandfather and for the kindness he showed her. I will never take for granted the special memories my children will always have of their great-grandpa coming to collect them in his carriage and seeing for themselves his infectious sense of adventure as well as his mischievous sense of humour!"

"My grandfather was an extraordinary man and part of an extraordinary generation," the Duke of Cambridge continued. "Catherine and I will continue to do what he would have wanted and will support The Queen in the years ahead. I will miss my Grandpa, but I know he would want us to get on with the job."
