BTS Have Beaten Their Own Record With Another Week At No. 1 On The Hot 100 - Forbes

Last year, BTS made history on what is largely considered to be Billboard’s most competitive and important weekly chart when they earned their first-ever No. 1 smash. Now, less than a full 12 months later, they’ve beaten their own best showing and proved once again that they are only competing with themselves at hsi point.

BTS’s new single “Butter” is steady at No. 1 on the latest Hot 100, racking up another week in front of every other competitor on the list. The summery track has now led the charge for four consecutive frames, which is a new best showing among all cuts released by South Korean musicians.

By snagging a fourth week at No. 1 on the Hot 100, “Butter” now stands as the longest-running leader of all time on the all-genre chart among compositions by South Korean musical acts. The tune is just the second-ever multi-week champion by a group from the Asian nation, and now it’s beaten the previous best showing by a single turn.

Last year, BTS hit No. 1 on the Hot 100 for the first time with “Dynamite,” their unstoppable disco-leaning pop tune. That track opened atop the tally and held there for two weeks before dipping down from the throne to make way as Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion debuted at No. 1 with their joint effort “WAP.” After that collaboration enjoyed a pair of frames in charge of the ranking, “Dynamite” returned to the summit for one more stint before slipping out the spotlight for good.

“Butter” also debuted at No. 1 on the Hot 100, and it has now become one of just 13 songs (out of more than 50 tracks to launch in first place) to hold onto the highest rung for four consecutive turns.

BTS’s latest global smash continues to reign over the Hot 100 thanks in large part to impressive sales week after week, as the track has now sold more than 100,000 copies in each of the past four frames. It’s extremely rare for any one tune to score a six-digit sales count at any point, and the septet’s ability to sell a song is unmatched in today’s music industry.

“Butter” is one of BTS’s four No. 1 hits on the Hot 100, and they’ve collected all of them in the past year. In addition to “Dynamite” and their current ruler, the band has also reached the pinnacle of the all-style list with both “Life Goes On” and "Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat)" alongside Jason Derulo and Jawsh 685.
