Simon Cowell set for charity walk after recovering from broken back - Page Six

Simon Cowell is set to do his first-ever charity walk after “recovering 110 percent” from his broken back, it’s been reported.

The “America’s Got Talent” judge, 61, broke his back last year in a horror fall after coming off an electric bike at his US home.

Simon has previously stated he’s “fitter than ever” after recovering from the serious injury — and now it’s been claimed he will take part in a charity walk to raise money for Shooting Star Children’s Hospices.

A source told The Mirror: “Simon is back to full fitness and has been telling pals he feels 110 percent.

“He jumped at the chance to do the charity walk as it’s a cause so close to his heart. He has a contacts book bulging with celebrity friends and rest assured they will all be getting calls about donating.”

The paper reports he has raised nearly £30,000 (or roughly $42,000) in a few days.

Simon was almost left paralyzed when he fell from his electric bike at his Malibu home last year.

The “X Factor” judge revealed the damage could have been far more serious.

Speaking to promote “America’s Got Talent,” he said: “I was a millimeter away from just cutting my back in half. So I consider myself lucky.

“Weirdly, it was a good thing that it happened. I didn’t get COVID because I wasn’t able to travel and I probably would’ve done my fair share last year.”

Cowell broke three vertebrae, missing his spinal cord by a centimeter, in the horrendous fall.

The star fell backwards and smashed down on to a concrete floor in front of his horrified son Eric, 6, and partner Lauren Silverman’s teenage son Adam from a previous relationship.

The star was rushed to Providence Saint John’s hospital in Santa Monica, a short drive from his beachside property in Malibu, where he underwent his surgery.

He later confessed to fans that he had not read the instruction manual before trying out his new toy.

Breaking his silence, Cowell tweeted at the time: “Some good advice…If you buy an electric trail bike, read the manual before you ride it for the first time.

“I have broken part of my back. Thank you to everyone for your kind messages.”

He added, “And a massive thank you to all the nurses and doctors. Some of the nicest people I have ever met. Stay safe everyone.”

Thankfully, it hasn’t appeared to have left any lasting damage either physically or mentally, with Cowell unafraid to get back on the saddle now that he has fully recovered from his injuries.
