Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is just around the corner now and more and more details about it are starting to come out.
Only last week, one star's attendance at the movie's premiere in Los Angeles seems to have spoiled the return of their character.
While we know already that the real Mandarin is going to finally show his face in the upcoming film (played by Tony Leung Chiu-wai) as the father of Simu Liu's titular character, the Destin Daniel Cretton directed film is also bringing back a villain from the very early days of the MCU.

In the very last moment of the Shang-Chi trailer, Shang-Chi and Awkwafina's Katy are attending some sort of battle arena, with the former getting ready to step on the ring himself.
Fighting in the match they are watching are Wong (Benedict Wong), who was introduced as a Doctor Strange companion, and Abomination, who we last saw in the 2008 film The Incredible Hulk.
Whether or not the Hulk film is part of the MCU depends on who you ask, but what's for sure is that in their Easter egg planting and constant referencing of previous films, Hulk has often been left out. When it came to introducing Hulk to the MCU in The Avengers, the role was recast from Edward Norton to Mark Ruffalo.

While it was English actor Tim Roth who played Emil Blonsky aka Abomination in the original film, his credit has yet not been confirmed for Shang-Chi. However, he is set to reprise his role in the 2022 She-Hulk series, so his appearance in the movie might act as a sort of reboot.
Asked about the character, Cretton said in an interview to Fandango: "He's big and scary and looks really cool. I can't really say anything about Abomination [laughs]."
We can already tell from the trailer though that he looks somewhat different, with some fins or gills added to the base of his neck.
"I think Abomination got a bit of an upgrade… or we might call it an evolution going through time," added the director. "I do really love the design that we landed on for that character."
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is due for release on September 3, 2021 in the UK and US.
