A new clip from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings shows Simu Liu's titular character fighting off a slew of bad guys on the side of a skyscraper. Marvel's next Phase 4 release will introduce the Master of Kung Fu into the MCU and the landmark 25th film will be the first to feature an Asian superhero headlining a feature. The film will follow Shang-Chi as he is forced to confront his mysterious past with the Ten Rings Organization, run by Wenwu aka The Mandarin, Shang-Chi's father. Awkwafina will play Shang-Chi's best friend, Katy, with Michelle Yeo, Tony Leung, Fala Chen, Florian Munteanu, and Benedict Wong rounding out the cast.
Shang-Chi is Marvel's second theatrical release of 2021 and the first to be released solely in theaters with a 45-day exclusivity window. Disney CEO Bob Chapek said that Shang-Chi is an "interesting experiment" for the studio, comments that Liu publicly bucked against over the weekend. With the box office in turmoil, though, all eyes will be on how the film will perform, both because it is a Marvel tentpole and because it is introducing entirely new characters to the long-running franchise.
With just a few weeks until Shang-Chi's release, Marvel is heavily promoting the film and the first clip from it has been released. The scene gives an extended look at a fight shown in the trailers, with Shang-Chi and Katy traversing the scaffolding on the side of a skyscraper. They are confronted by a group of bad guys and Shang-Chi sends his best friend away so he can fight them off hundreds of feet above the ground. Check out the clip from Fandango below:

The first clip from Shang-Chi serves a few purposes, including showing the beginnings of the title character's old life clashing with his new one in San Francisco. It also shows off the exciting action of the film, with the complicated choreography and location allowing for some unique and surprising fighting. Liu has said that Shang-Chi has action unlike anything in the MCU and the clip above is just a taste of that.
Shang-Chi's trailers have also given audiences a glimpse at what's to come, including epic battles with giant lions, a major confrontation between Shang-Chi and his father, and a fighting cage featuring Wong and the return of Abomination. With Marvel usually playing their cards close to the chest, that's all likely the tip of the iceberg. When Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings finally hits theaters in September, audiences will finally get to see what the Master of Kung Fu has in store for the MCU.
