Boutique Spot In Tuscany Schedules Intensive Food-Centric Series Hosted By Celebrity Chefs - Forbes

We always dream of escaping to the hills of Tuscany, and spending our afternoons drinking wine and making pasta, but that always seems like something of a fantasy. But due to a returning culinary-focused chef intensive at a Tuscan resort, it may just be an accessible dream for amateaur home cooks and celebrity chef enthusiasts with vacation time to burn.

Located in a hilltop village overlooking Val d’Orcia, Tuscany-based luxury hotel Monteverdi Tuscany has joined forces with with well-known chefs Nancy Silverton (who is at the helm of restaurants such as Osteria Mozza and Pizzeria Mozza) and Missy Robbins (known for her trendy New York City spots Lilia and Misi) to host a culinary-themed Chef in Residence program this coming autumn.

“Since the inception of our culinary program at Monteverdi in 2012, I have had the pleasure of sharing the bounty and history of the beautiful Val D'Orcia with guests and friends alike. However, sharing with fellow culinarians, from around the world, was always something close to my heart. Treasures are meant to be shared, and here we are!" said Giancarla Bodoni, Monteverdi Culinary Director, in a statement.

The five-night itinerary, which will run from September 24-29 2024, will involve all sorts of activities that will make a foodie’s heart sing and stomach growl, from chef-led dinners, small-group cooking demonstrations hosted by the celebrity chefs and food-centric Tuscany-area excursions, such as white truffle foraging and learning the art of cheese making. There’ll also be activities such as wine tastings, concerts, family-style meals, farm visits and more. But it’s not an opportunity many will have the chance to experience: Reservations open in April and there’ll be a total of 30 spots available.

While this getaway is something of a splurge, it’s one that even the celebrity chefs seem pretty excited to be involved in. "Hm, let me get this right... I get to stay and cook and teach and eat this fall at Monteverdi, Tuscany, which is one of my favorite getaways in all of Italy, and I get to do all this with Missy Robbins, one of my favorite chefs in America? What's not to love? It's an experience I can guarantee you won't want to miss,” said Chef Nancy Silverton in an email.

This year’s program is a follow-up to a similar one last year, which partnered with Dominique Crenn and Nancy Silverton, so while this culinary journey may feel like a once-in-a-lifetime trip, it actually is something someone can consider making an annual pilgrimage. If truffle hunting and cheesemaking with celebrity chefs in the Tuscan countryside is your type of thing, it is.
