Red Velvet is a K-pop girl group under SM Entertainment. They debuted in August 2014 with the single ‘Happiness’ consisting of four members: Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, and Joy. The fifth member Yeri joined in March 2015 on the heels of their first EP ‘Ice Cream Cake’.
The five-piece remains one of the most popular girl groups today. Twelve of their alums have topped the Gaon Album Chart with singles ‘Red Flavour’ and ‘Power Up’ getting number one hits. Throughout their career, Red Velvet has brought home many awards including the Mnet Asian Music Award for Best Female Group and Asia Artist Award for Song of the Year. They were also included in the Forbes Korea Power Celebrity, placing fifth in 2019.
